Default Obama Rejects Keystone XL, Update: TransCanada Sues US Gov't

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/keyston...veto-1.2936564

Quote:
Senators voted 62-36 on the bill to bypass the Obama administration's review of Keystone, five short of the number needed to overturn a potential rejection by the president. All Republicans present voted for the bill as did nine Democrats.
Finally. But now it's up to Obama to...veto it?

He'll veto it,

It goes against his interests to see it pass.

Does this actually have a chance to go through now? Thought it would be stuck in purgatory forever. Hasn't public opinion started to shift to the approval side in the past months?

Does he have to veto it or can he just let it sit on the corner of his desk and do absolutely nothing?

This is good timing as they've had 5 pipeline ruptures this month in the US.

People won't care though if it's NIMBY

Obama will veto it and keep finding ways to kill it until he's out of office, this is one file that he's going to leave for whoever the next president is.

He's in the lame duck phase of his presidency, none of his actions are going to go through, so he's not going to be doing any favors.

It has to be signed or returned within 10 days. If it is not it is passed.

Except for

Some immigration reform
Opening communications with Cuba
Cutting an environment deal with China
And of course
Lowering gas prices.

Thing is, even if he vetoes it, the Republicans will probably include it in a must pass funding bill and Obama might not have a choice.

It'll pass, just a matter of when. He can veto it now but it's not going away

This deal won't affect how much oil the US is using, just where it comes from. The world will be a better place when the US is no longer dependent on middle eastern oil.
