8 teams make the playoffs in a 10 team league? It should stay at 6.

Yup.
1st place teams deserve that bye.
80% of the league making the PO is horrible. Its bad enough now.

The Atlantic Salmons!

Keep it at top 6.
Hope this becomes a reality.

I predict they will have a great home field advantage and struggle on the road. The Lions have always had a great home field advantage against Eastern teams and I expect that three hour time change and long flight will be difficult for western teams visiting just as it will be difficult for the Atlantic team flying out west and losing 3-4 hours.

2 wins to win a championship is also kind of lame. Besides more revenue for the teams.

No, it's not lame, it's just show that this is a small league. Winning the conference should mean something, without the bye, the season would be meaningless.

It does. You get to play the 7th and 8th place teams in the playoffs. and I'm betting they are going to be pretty bad. Wouldn't the Stamps and the Argos want one more home game of revenue?

Ya but then it lets hot teams sneak in and go on a hot streak. Hamilton right now would be a lock to beat Ottawa in the East and maybe even Toronto. Hell, they could easily win the Cup at their quality of play right now.

If they can go on the road and win 3 straight playoff games well then they deserve it.

A Grey Cup weekend in Halifax would set some sort of record for mass alcohol poisoning, I'm sure.

No the season already has too many games and teams get decimated with injuries. I love the big advantage to winning the division as an 18 game season needs to count for something.
Would the schedule be a perfectly balanced home and home against every team in the league?

Kyle Walters (Bombers GM) doesn't like the current CFL playoff format - Hey Kyle, here'a a crazy thought, just win.
Ted Wyman@Ted_Wyman
Winnipeg Blue #Bombers GM Kyle Walters had strong words about the imbalanced playoff structure in the #CFL after his 12-6 team was bounced in the first round by another 12-6 team, while 10-8 Saskatchewan won at 8-9-1 Ottawa.

time to do away with east vs west...never has worked. The ONLY way that top teams get either byes or play weaker teams to start....maybe.

I don't see anything wrong with what he wrote. It's excuse making but it's true; the Riders were rewarded for being a ####tier team by getting to cross into the weak East.

Lets be honest they would have probably lost to Ottawa or Saskatchewan anyway as their starting QB wasn't 100% and they have the worst defense in the league. Congrats for winning 12 games but no team is going to win a Grey Cup with a defense that bad.

Everybody knows the format at the start of the season, Bombers got a home playoff game and just couldn't deliver, also Mike O'Shea should be fired for that stupid 3rd down gamble on his own side of half in the 3rd quarter against the Eskies.

He's right.
The Stamps and Bombers should have had a bye.
The Eskimos should have hosted the RedBlacks and the Riders should have hosted the Argos.
The playoff format in the CFL is stupid.

I don't recall the Bombers GM or Bombers fans complaining too much in 2011 when they got a bye to the East final yet having a worse record than all three playoff teams in the West.

Excuses or not, the format is bunk. I don't know how anyone can deny that.
