A solid puck moving D-man at this point is more important than a first line center. This has been rehashed a thousand times, i know, but we are a great team in goals for, its getting more points out of our D, and shoring up our in Dzone coverage, that is of most importance.

Exactly, what was he supposed to do... turtle into the fetal position? He defended himself against the little puke, which was good to see.

There is a really noticeable imbalance down the middle. None of Conroy, Lombardi nor Boyd slots into the role assigned to them.
Yeah, all 3 seem a little bit lost, like none of them really fit their line. However, whatever Keenan's doing with the lines is working, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've never understood you ragging on him. Kipper has been fantastic this season. Bring up all the statistics you want that contradict that, but he has been dominant. Since the Flames tough start he has been the BEST goalie in the NHL. Not one of the best....the BEST. This is purely my opinion, but the Flames record combined with his improved personal statistics (which I think are overvalued) stacks up with anyone in the league since their terrible start.

Think about it....in a 1 on 1 matchup, Kipper has outplayed almost everyone of his peers thus far. Nabokov...check. Miller...check. Luongo...even.

At precisely this moment in the season I think he is THE goalie I'd want tending the pipes in the Calgary net.....what a nice feeling!

My favourite moment of the game was the Nyström to Roy goal. Center makes a nice deke to take the last D-man out and then a quick, simple pass to the winger who lifts it to the upper corner with confidence, goalie completely helpless. And that's our fourth line, turning a 2 on 1 into the game winner.

Man I love having depth.

The Glencross to Lombardi goal was pretty nice too.

The tsn highlights show the kipper save like 5 times from 3 different angles, they also have the Bertuzzi fight but just the tail end of it and what started it but they skip the middle fighting part lol.

Sounds like a solid game by the flames and a game breaking save by Kipper, glad to see him making those this year as that used to be what we all blasted him about, now he is making some insane saves at the critical times in the game. Good job Kipper!

My only quibble with that is Nystrom is a winger and Boyd is the centerman...

I like Eric Nystrom.
Eric Nystrom will never be a NHL player.

Oh guys, the Flames are only 5 points back of Detroit.

Just in case someone forgot to mention it.

Flames The charge of the lesser-light Brigade

The charge of the lesser-light Brigade
That was a clever line by Scott Cruickshank in the Herald today,
that inspired me to write this:

Forward the lesser-light Brigade!
Charge the net, he said.
Into the valley of Red
Rode the 6 horsemen.

Forward the lesser-light Brigade!
Was there a man dismay'd?
Theirs not to make reply.
Theirs not to reason why.
Theirs but to score or die.
Into the valley of Red
rode the 6 horsemen.

Mosser to the right of them
Scoreface to the left of them
Lombo out in front of them
Storm'd at with shot and shell
Boldly they skated well
Into the jaws of Renni
Into the mouth of hell
rode the six horsemen.

Boydie dug the puck for them
and Nyzer slashed and dashed for them
And Roy he flashed his sabre bare
Flashed as they turn'd in air
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
the Nashville will was broke.
Out of the valley of Red
rode the 6 horsemen.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder'd.
Honor the charge they made!
Honour the lesser-light Brigade.

(with apologies to Alfie, Lord Tennyson)

Well played, good sir, well played.

A noble paraphrase of classic verse
very different, but hardly worse.

Well technically you are of course correct, but I try not to let things like that bother me. Truthism for the win.
