Any one do the Best Buy deal?
apparently you get a free dvd or some gift certificates??

Anyway... this game is pretty sick
I have been trying to beat all the classic fight modes
Some of them are really hard ( i am brutal at submissions so those are out of the question) and than you have to to last the whole fight... so i either knock him out to early or waste time by only taking him down... usually get caught with a submisson/ get knocked out
however the video's are really great and Rachelle Leah is "Super Hot"

I've read that three months from now the fighters that are available free for people who pre-ordered through EB Games will be available for download.

Man, got to 9-0, won the middleweight title, and am now being summarily destroyed by submission specialist challengers. Dude, the button mashing submissons are killing me in this game. Other than that, this will definitely tide me over til fight night round 4, but man, these things are brutal.

I went out and rented the full version today. Good game, but I'm not sure if I'll buy it. Two criticisms:

1. Controls are very unresponsive and clunky. Just lost a fight because I went to hold LT for a body punch and my guy stood and got caught in the face. Transitions can also be unresponsive.

2. Holy excessive menus and prompts, batman. Game takes forever to get into a fight.

What I'm curious about is what do you guys think of the variety level because I heard there are 80 fighters or something and only 3 fighting styles, does it set up a lot of repetitive style matches?

Somewhat. There are 3 each for striking / grappling.

Striking:
Boxing
Kickboxing
Muay Thai

Ground:
Brazilian Jui Jitsu
Judo
Wrestling

But it's not super repetetive. Thing is, different fighters all have different focus' and skills. Just because a guy uses BJJ doesn't necessarily mean they're submission machines etc.

I've finally figured out those submissions and am loving it.

And I agree with Rubecube. I just want to customize my trunks, don't make it a 20 minute affair. Jeebus.

The auto-save really slows things down too. Not only that, but I hate games where auto-save is mandatory.

Any tips on trying to break out of submissions? Contrary to what the tutorial suggests, presssing A rapidly does nothing.

Don't allow your fighter to gas, plus if it's one of your created fighters then strength also helps

My game plan right now is to pretty much try and avoid any damage till late in the 1st round and wait till my opponent goes balls to the wall striking out of frustration. Once his stamina dips roughly to half I jump into the clinch and go for an armbar.... that should drain him almost out and he breaks out of it into half guard... I then go for a Kimura

So to think in reverse, when fighting submission fighters keep an eye on that stamina and don't go too wild

Yeah, I did this. Got into the third round and had Ben Saunders beat down with my CAF. He was gassed and I still had 3/4 stamina. Went for a takedown and he rolled me into an armbar for the submission. I'm guessing it's because my CAF still sucks. Still in the high 30s for submission defense. Mind you I'm close to 60 in strength so I'm not sure.

I didn't even think it was possible, but video game Matt Serra is more boring than real-life Matt Serra. Matt Serra sucks!

Has anyone else managed to unlock all three of the Tapout guys yet? Unlocking Mask was annoying as hell - didn't get him unlocked until my third career.

to get sky scrape you need to put in a code. I forget how I unlocked Punk Ass

Edit: Looked it up. Punk Ass gets unlocked when you get the tapout sponsorship. That should come easy enough in career mode, it's just a matter of getting enough cred.

Here is Skyscrape:

To unlock SkyScrape from the TapOut Crew, for play in Exhibition Mode, press the following at the title screen:

Up, Up, Up, Down, Left, Right, Up, Start.

Just tried it, it's from the main screen, before you hit start and load a saving device.
