For whatever reason, with German Titov as one notable exception and Oleg Saprykin as one half-season success, Russian players never did well in Calgary.

No love for Valeri Bure and Andrei Nazarov?

Coincidence that they signed Zav while pursuing a Russian KHL goalie? So they can keep each other company? Another friendly face on the team ? I bet it’s a incentive... any little bit helps

His contract wasn’t the greatest, but Igor “Gary” Kravchuk was a good character guy and put up a decent season for the Flames. I think he also became a Canadian citizen, but I still count him.

I thought he was our most noticeable (for all the right reasons) prospect forward in preseason. Yeah, even more than Dube. Just a total waterbug out there with some serious shooting skill as well.

And apparently he was the most fit prospect, too.

Glad to see him rewarded, although his numbers in the Q are a bit underwhelming.

I agree with the overall sentiment. I say shoot for the moon with any pick after the 3rd round. Most of those picks won’t turn out anyway, so I would rather take the 1000 to 1 odds of finding a Datsyuk than 100 to 1 odds of finding a 4th liner or tweener.

(Odds completely made up, but you get the point)

Big shame, would have been a good chance at the WJC.

16g 27a in 23 games

Jérôme Bérubé @Jerome_Berube
#flames prospect Dmitri Zavgorodnyi will be out 8-12 weeks (broken collarbone). Tough blow for Rimouski and Russia with the world junior starting in about 5 weeks.

When it rains, it pours.

Could be time to take a sabbatical on all Flames stuff. Nothing but depressing news everyday.

We get it hockey gods, you're pissing on the Flames this year.

Do you want a goat sacrificed? What will appease you at this point. Cause we've all but resigned to whatever hell this is.

Man if Pelletier doesn’t make Team Canada I’m gonna have to cheer for backup goalie Wolf and the Americans (yuck) this year.
