Hopefully Bichette cutting his hair has the same effect it had for Guerrero.

Haha

So Vlad will have 8 WAR, Bo will have 6 WAR and the Jays will win the AL east

Then they'll both walk out the door as FAs lol

This Jays team always had parallels to the Gaudreau / Monahan / Tkachuk Flames...

So Bichette and Vladdy walking after the Jays win the AL East this season would be the fitting end.

So either A. They are still friends who workout together. B. Teo is close to signing with the Jays. or C. Vladdy is being traded to the Dodgers.

Why does C seem like the most likely?

The crazy thing is the Dodgers don't even have a spot for him.

Ohtani DH, Friedman at 1B. Maybe he plays 3B there instead of Muncy? Honestly I doubt they'd want him. They need an outfielder and pitching but their infield is already stacked.

I would love to see Vladdy traded. Bring in some potential pieces for the future and avoid signing an overweight 1B to a $400 million+ retirement contract.

Mets might be a good option seeing as Alonso is a FA right now and they need to replace him, plus Cohen doesn't care about the LT

Mets are an interesting trade partner for Vlad. 1B open, unlimited money for the signing, friends with Soto. Could definitely be a fit there.

But I just can't see Atkins throwing the towel in on this season in advance and committing to a rebuild/retool.

Yeah for sure, but trading Vladdy doesn't necessarily have to mean they are throwing in the towel, depending on the return and what other FA's they sign with the freed up money.

On one hand this could be why nothing has leaked over talks on Vlad’s extension. But on the other hand I just can’t see Atkins wanting to trade him as his legacy, especially if his results have been poor nearing ten years at the helm. I’ve never been a huge fan of Teo’s pitch choices but on a short term deal he seems like the best fit at DH for this team.

Popkins perfect name for hitting catch. Anything but Martinez is great though.

Schneider is just the yes man. Management calls the shots, Schneider just gets to be the face for TV.

Come game time I don't think the manager plays that much of a role. It's the behind the stuff mechanics and stuff we don't see, that managers play a part in. The results were the results and after two coaches who were apparently respected behind the scenes, and little success, I think more than anything it's the players. Some just didn't perform up to expectations, while some just don't have the high ceiling. For those with the limited ceiling that's on Atkins.

I think some of the questionable in-game decisions (eg pulling Berrios vs the Twins in the wild card round) probably came from above as well. And that was one where an in-game decision definitely affected the game - the team just deflated after that.

The part I wonder about, is there too many voices in the hitters heads. I think a guy like Vladdy just needs to go up there and let his natural talent take over.

I would let Donny Baseball go, I don’t think he adds much and his track record isn’t great.

Jays should stay with Schneider.

They have to figure out if a management change is going to occur

If a new GM is required, it makes sense to revisit at that time

Yeah. I think the problem is the level above Schneider, and when they get replaced you should let the new GM pick his own guy.

Hopefully he turns back into a pumpkin, but with the short porch at Yankee stadium he probably hits 35 home runs
