Yep. I was literally just heading to my car to hit the gym, and immediately ran back inside as I was getting pelted. I'll wait until this turns into just rain..
Looks like quite a small storm so shouldn't take too long to pass.

Thanks to Crackmacs I’ve read the powers at be have been lowering the reservoir level and have increased the flow on the rivers to drop levels in anticipation of the rain. Should help with flood prevention.

iIRC that was one of the outcomes of lessons learned from 2013. We were up at Spray Lake last weekend and I was shocked how little water was in it.
We need moisture badly but at the same time I’m trying to rebuild our deck (weeknights mainly) and this isn’t helping.
On the topic or morons, i drove through very heavy rain on the QE 2 north of Red Deer this afternoon and you guesses it, people were pulled over underneath the overpasses.

The AB Rivers site (and App) is great for checking flow rates and water levels at rivers, creeks, and reservoirs in Alberta. Ghost has been lowered to its lowest operating threshold for flood season as of this morning.
Still took some precautions yesterday, brought up a bunch of stuff from our basement and preparing to bring up more things if necessary. Also repacked our "bug out" bag so that it was fresh and ready to go.

Can confirm. A good friend works for TransAlta as part of the team managing water levels. For weeks they have been concerned about the amount of snow in the mountains and have been lowering reservoirs in anticipation of a rain event like this.
This sort of thing happens all of the time without much hoopla, but he has described this year as a bit more concerning than most.
Considering that reservoir levels have been lowered ahead of this expected storm and increased melt water what is the short term and mid term impact on our water supply if the reservoirs are not refilled right away?
