Default Ripping a DVD

I was wondering how you would be able to copy a dvd (say from a TV series in this case) to my computer. It's giving me error messages saying that certain files cannot be copied. is there anyway to get around this?

I'm only asking as I would prefer to have a backup copy to my shows just in case of scratching (they are all two sided dvd's)

DVDShrink is a good program to do it, will rip them and shrink (compress them more) them if you want as well.

Okay, I'm decrypting a DVD as I type. Once it's finished, how would I go about burning it on another DVD?

PS, Thanks for all the help.

Any DVD burning software should give the option to burn a new video CD. What burning software do you usually use.

Keep in mind too if you're decrypting a dual layer DVD you'll have to have a dual layer DVD to burn it to (and even then I've had problems with them not working, which sucks because a few of my backups for my kid's movies only play 2/3rd through).

That's one reason DVD shrink is nice, it will compress it to fit onto a single side DVD if you want.

If I'm not using DVDShrink I use DVD Decrypter to rip, the DVD2One to compress the DVD and to strip out the extra crap that I don't need.

i second the DVD Shrink, its a great program, once i rip the disc onto my harddrive (as an ISO image) i use DVD Decryptor to burn it to another disc, I find DVD Decryptor to be decent program for burning the files, and copying (only if the disc is a single layer disc, if its dual, i use DVD shrink so it compresses to a single layer size)
