Boring John Monahan “I told Guy Gaudreau we’ve got them right where we want them. He said OK”

Rittich has one terrible game and now the Flames goaltending situation is in ruins? People overreact way too much over the result of only one game.

Hey, nobody's overreacting. Even after stinking the joint up on an epic scale, Bobrovsky is still our saviour! Trade ALL the assets for him!

After that celebration it's pretty clear that John is "boring Sean Monahan Sr."

It wasn’t even terrible.

The third goal was bad. Can’t go in, 19 times out of 20

The second - Passed to slot, goalie has to reset. Quick release. Goalie was screened. Perfectly placed inside the post. Why can’t people give Columbus credit for a good goal?

First - I thought the distraction of Gio and the guy in front wrestling for position contributed to a poorly controlled or placed rebound. Some people are sure he saw it. I don’t know how.

The timing of the third goal and the way it went in stunk.
But a giveaway made the shot possible.

Not horrible. Not great. Goals happen.

It was after Monahan's 2nd attempt empty netter vs LA.

I think the guy in front was jokingly ragging on Sean for missing the first shot.

Don't be silly. Any goal scored against the Flames is as soft as whipped cream and proves that our goalies suck. Page 43 of the Official Fan Songbook. Get with the program!

His gum lost its flavour during the previous intermission.

If Smith has been in net for that goal there would have been two pages of posts blasting him in this thread.

First goal reminded me of the one that went through Smith against Montreal. In both cases the goalie was sure he had the puck and actually had zero idea it had gotten away.

The second was the most defensible. Sort of through a screen. Frankly, the goals against Smith were the best and least saveable chances of all the goals by both teams. Bob made all the same mistakes that Smith's been crucified for - 5 holes, deep in the net, over the shoulder, etc.

Rittich wasn't great but I think putting Smith in was also about shaking the team up after being down 3-1 after 20 minutes. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Rittich back at it next game.

That happens with every goal Smith lets in. When he actually lets in a bad goal, there are five pages of posts blasting him.

Which pretty much goes to show what I'm saying.

He had a few very good chances early in the first. Not converting that wraparound wasn’t good but yeah not a great night

Also smith still looks like the shakier of the two goalies that we have. Yes rittich didn’t have a great night but smith has done nothing to deserve being called a #1 again
