Seems like another prospect heavy line up.... Is it bad to assume the first W of the preseason tonight??

Hopefully Smith and the Flames have a good night if only to calm down panicky fans.

If we take anything from the first 3 games...I think we wait a little while longer. But! I hope they come out tenacious and hungry. I love that Janko is getting his third game, really think he is pushing for a spot.

You should never assume anything insofar as the outcome is concerned in preseason games. Some vets will likely coast through this one; others won't; all of them will be focussed on avoiding injuries; prospects on both sides with starting positions on the line will look to make an impression ...

Vets coasted through the last preseason game too though....

At what game of preseason should more be expected (honest question)?

The last one for sure. Usually the second last one as well, for most teams.

Anything prior to the final two are pretty much huey.

Will be interesting to see a MacInnis skating in Saddledome again (Ryan, son of Al). Arizona's second round pick in 2014.

Dream opening line-up.

Tkachuk - Monahan - Jankowski
Gaudreau - Bennett - Ferland
Lazar - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Stajan - Brouwer

One step closer haha

Ya he looked great for Windsor a few years back, and again last year in the AHL too. Big right winger.

I would rather see:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Janko
Tkachuk - Bennett - Ferland
Versteeg - Backland - Frolik
Lazar - Stajan - Brouwer

If no Janko, than move Bennett to the wing (switch Bennett and Janko). Not this year, as they aren't ready, but one day.

Martinook always seems to play well in Calgary, hopefully they don't let him rip any from the slot.

Does it make me a bad guy, hoping Tanner Glass has a poor showing?

I know he's behind Mony and Backs, but in a perfect world i wish Bennett could be used on one of the top 2 lines-he wasn't drafted 4th overall to be a third-liner. I'm gonna be at the game tonight, and I'm excited to see him center Johnny and Ferland.

Zac Rinaldo playing? the hell. I thought he was done.

50% chance we lose a player to injury tonight.

It has been mentioned on this site numerous times, but the way the team is constructed is not according to a conventional model of "top six" offence combined with "bottom six" checking. It seems clear to me that Treliving and Gulutzan envision a lot more balance through the top nine which would see more of a "1A/1B/1C" or "1 + 2A/B" or "1A/B + 2" distribution of ice time and zone starts.

Why would anyone hope that any player has a poor showing?

If he plays well and earns a spot by outplaying others, he has improved the team. As a fan, isn't that what you want?

I don't get this attitude.
