eRepublik Online Game

Hello Everyone!

I have just started playing an online game called eRepublik. Although it is pretty slow for the first week you sign up, it gets very interesting when you are able to fight in wars and vote for congress etc when you get to the required level (usually after 6 days).

If you do we both will recieve extra gold when you level up enough and that will really help.

The reason I am posting this here is that you are all cool blokes and blokesses :P obviously but Canada needs your help!! Canada is constantly under attack and the Hungarians have taken control of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They are planning on taking Alberta next for the oil. So Canada needs more players to join, level up and fight off the invaders and help Canada grow.

I know it sounds all geeky but it is fun and only takes about 30 seconds a day to play in the first week when there is not much to do. It is also interesting to read all the history as it almost like a parallel universe.

The Hungarians took control of Scotland as part of a training war with a view to attacking North America. France started the war by attacking Nova Scotia then PEI. The British took some of the areas off the French before the Hungarians took the areas for themselves. Canadian resistance wars have since taken back some land but the great plains are still in foreign hands.

Some questions that the tutorial doesn't seem to answer;

What time, GMT, does a new 'day' begin?

Other than work and train, what should we be doing short term? Long term? At what point should you be doing more than just working and training?

What kind of food should we buy? Does more expensive do better things?

How does wellness go up? What can you spend wellness on other than training and working?

Is any type of skill more worthwhile ( or interesting) than any other type?

Are any jobs better than others if pay is equal?

What are the benefits for paying RL cash into the game, I saw you can buy gold, but what can you do with gold that makes it worth it?

How does the game work at higher levels? Do you put that cash in only to find out that it still is the same thing for the whole game?

A.I think there is a clock on the top of the page, 00:00 that time

Q.Other than work and train, what should we be doing short term? Long term? At what point should you be doing more than just working and training?
A. Short term (first week) all you can do is work and train. At level 5 you can fight in battles and at level 6 you can vote. When you get enough money you can start a company or buy one. Try to make a profit from it. You can join a political party or start a new one, become active in discussion and run for office. Or you could become a mercenary moving around the world fighting for payment.


Q.What kind of food should we buy? Does more expensive do better things?
A. The more stars a food has the more Wellness it gives you.

Q.How does wellness go up? What can you spend wellness on other than training and working?
A. 1 wellness is used for working and training. It is also used up on moving area (-2 for a 1 star ticket through +2 for a 5 star). 10 wellness is used up when you fight as long as you are over 40 wellness. You can gain wellness by eating and if you fight you can go to hospital to get 10 wellness from a 1 star hospital through 50 wellness from a 5 star hospital.


Q.Is any type of skill more worthwhile ( or interesting) than any other type?
A. I don't think so but I have not read to much about the skills as yet.

Q.Are any jobs better than others if pay is equal?
A. Not really, they are all equal although if a company can't pay you or they have no raw materials then you cannot work. Some companies have standards (always over 90 wellness for example) that is you don't adhere to, they could fire you.

Q.What are the benefits for paying RL cash into the game, I saw you can buy gold, but what can you do with gold that makes it worth it?
A. With gold you can start a company or organization, create a newspaper and trade on the exchange for currencies. Use the markets to make a profit. Some use their money and/or gold to finance a run for office or even having their own armies that act as mercenaries. I doubt i will ever put any RL cash into the game. In the early days though one guy sold loads of his gold for $440 RL cash via paypal.

A. The game definately opens up more with wars and politics and companies but it is the discussions on message boards and chat rooms that some people like the most. They seem to have massive debates over plans for war and the economy but on the actual game nothing seems to have happened. I know for example the UK has a president and 40 congress members in-game but off site there is a whole cabinet with people assigned jobs like health minister and home office and ambassadors to each nation. The army is the army in-game but there is the RAF and Royal Navy off-site that have specific divisions led by a leader who give the orders on which areas and what times to attack during a battle. I am not clear on a lot of things still, but it seems very detailed with more modules being added by the people who run the game all the time.

Us Brits are about to go to WAR with... Norway. Haha. This game is funny. Although some see this a platform to attack the USA after. Woo!!

Oh and JohnnyB, it takes about 20 seconds to play at the start. You only need to get more involved if you want to but at least you level up in the meantime.

OK, so even at level 4 all I do is work then train and my day is complete?

I keep losing health as I cant afford to buy anything good - is this normal?
