Raty started the AHL as a 19 yrs old. His stats is fine . He is not a struggling AHL player LMFAO. Struggling AHL play don’t get called up and scored a couple NHL goal already.

He is no blue chip but he is a good prospect. Put your homer glasses down for a second

Lol you are so quick to defend other teams while constantly trashing the Flames

He is 20 with 15 points in 27 AHL games...those are not great numbers. That's not to say he can't improve but he is obviously below expectations so far.

Something tells me the most valuable piece that the Canucks got in this trade (the first round pick) will end up getting traded at the draft to sweeten a deal to dump one of their bad contracts. Likely OEL or Myers. Or even Miller since he seems to be a big problem in the dressing room.

In my mind's eye Raty was picked in the teens...but it was actually 52nd overall. The Kylington comps seem apt.

The more I think about it the more sense this makes for NYI. Lou is doing the right thing for that roster.

Well in the only universe that is relevant: Horvat has proven he CAN skate in the NHL. Raty tbd.

Based on the split of opinions I'd say this was good for both sides... or bad...

Lets be honest. If Johnny was traded last year during the trade deadline, guy would get way more than what Horvat got. Problem is, that wasn't going to happen when Flames were considered a contender for the cup last year.

Man would this be interesting if the Islanders sputtered for two weeks and then flipped Horvat for a better package than Vancouver received.

Or even if they feel like they can't re-sign him to what they want.

Has that ever happened before, a big acquisition traded for and then flipped in short order before the deadline?

top 12 protected is a weak return. There is a reasonable chance that pick goes to 2024. And then this assertion that Allvin didn't shop around?!

Next thing you will tell me is that Allvin can't remember if he tried to trade up or down last year in the draft.

Think this is correct, Col, Bos, Car were all rumoured as interested and those firsts were always going to be very late in round one.
Everyone trying to figure out who won this trade 1 day after, short term the Islanders win as they get the best player, find out in 2 years how this trade went for the Canucks.
Both could win the trade, both could lose, as smart as we all think we are, most of us are wrong on here more than we're right.

NYI themselves did it with Vanek...though they acquired him in late Oct and then flipped on March 5.

Johnny could only be traded to three teams at the TDL.

The question is what you could have gotten for him the year before (before his MNTC), after two seasons well below PPG. I suspect the return would be a little better but not much, given Horvat is a 2 way centre and at that time Johnny was a strictly 1 dimensional LW.

The return is probably pretty fair - the risk for the Canooks is that it is entirely made up of hope. We'll have to wait a long time to determine a winner on this one.

However, I really like it for the Islanders. Barzal has had too much weight to carry, and adding Horvat as a #2 down the middle, could really free up Barzal and have a huge impact on the Isles overall.

I am now cheering for a deep NYI run.

Weird.

Pretty good bet they can't make it in. Even though they are only a couple pts out now, Pittburgh has like 3 games in hand, plus they aren't a wilting team, nor is Washington. And Buffalo and Fla is in that same mix too.
