My condolences to those who have lost their animal friends.
It is sad to see this thread come to the top every so often. We helped Black Pug Percy over the Rainbow Bridge on Remembrance Day two years ago. He was 15. We're also coming up to the one-year anniversary of helping Fawn Pug Emma over the Rainbow Bridge. She was only 11 and seemingly in fine health. Never anything wrong with her. One day, she wouldn't eat and we thought it was the typical Pug and their rotten teeth issue. Had some teeth removed and she never got better. An ultrasound was done and the Vet discovered at least five tumors on her liver. Absolutely devastating. She was gone in under a week.

Man this thread sucks. I wish dogs in particular lived longer (I have a cat that's 15 and in good health). 10-12 years is just too short.

Im kind of posting to hopefully get some advice although I think I already know. My cat Zeek is 15 and over the past few months his muscle mass in his backside had easily declined 60%-70% and his incontinence issues have gotten to a point where he can't be left to roam the house unsupervised for long periods.
I have a vet appointment booked for tomorrow and I'm sure I know what the outcome is going to be, I just don't know if there is more I can be doing or if it's just his time. I adopted him as a kitten when I was going through cancer and he was my buddy the entire time I was at my worse and it's killing me to even think about this.

Have you had him checked for anything yet? At that age they can get kidney issues. My Hobie had that, and it wasn't looking great but a change in diet and medication kept her going for 4 years. The turnaround took about 6 months but she was back to her old self until she passed this summer. Good luck.

Again, CP is like a good friend......
My best friend, "Sasha" (named by my ex) but I call her "Satchel" is miserable with multiple (I'm not going into details) issues.
She's an 11 year old shih tzu I've been to canyon meadows vet clinic so many times with her. She's so sad and miserable and I've done everything the vet advised to no avail.
I'm faced with possibly taking her to the vet for the last time. At this point I'm going to treat it as an evaluation. Pretty sure I know what Doc is going to suggest
Jesus Christ!

I had a shih tzu that I loved very much. I really hope that you get good news when you take her to the vet.
