One of my favourite Habs, the guy was tenacious as hell on the ice. Good thing he carried that into his retirement, it may have saved his life.

Coles notes: had a blood infection and sepsis, 40 day medically induced coma, his organs failed and they did a heart valve replacement, new liver, new kidney in a crazy 24 hour operation.

Had a relative die from sepsis over Xmas. One day she was getting a big Xmas dinner ready and 48 hours later she was dead.
They basically were doing the same things - replacing organs to try and save her but couldn't get ahead of it.

I should qualify. His doctor wasn't convinced he got it from the cactus. He had a teeth cleaning the week before and that could have been the cause.

Regardless, scary as heck.

I met Odie in 94 or 95 along with Kirk Muller and a few others. One of the nicest people I've ever met. Hoping for a full recovery here.
