Weird tech crap that you put up with
So... I have this DVD-ROM drive in my PC. For the last year and a half, the thing refuses to open UNLESS there's a dvd in the drive.
I cannot stand having a dvd in there unless I have to (as it increases the time to open things like My Computer, etc.). So in order to use my DVD-ROM, i have to slide a paper-clip in the manual-open hole which opens the drive enough so I can stick a butter knife into the slot and jam the thing open. It's silly, I should replace it but I use the thing so little I just don't care.
Am I the only one who puts up with weird tech crap like this?

I do the same thing. More out of laziness than anything.
My XBOX 360 DVD controller some how got on the same frequency as my HP Laptop so when I try to turn on my 360 by the controller it will either turn on or off my laptop. Also pressing play will open up Media player, etc.
I am sure it is an easy fix but, meh!

My last "primary" home computer- I put in a CPU that was faster than the heat sink/fan could keep up with. So randomly I would hear the fan start to wine, and I would know that I only had about 2 minutes to close down some applications or it would power off. I had a new heat sink ready to put in for about a year before I finally did. (And then I actually used it to build a new PC.)

haha wow. I couldn't have put up with that... But I once had heat problems too, and my answer was to leave my PC open and point a giant standing fan at the open side of the case all day long. Worked fine, but I always worried what would happen if somehow someone spilled something near the fan...
I put up with that for about 6 months, then bought an aluminum case.. never had heat problems since.

It is a french acronym for CLEAN LE ATROSHIS NABLACHE (french for Keyboard)
Is that alright, Professor?

The integrated audio on my computer is strange.
If I use the analogue outputs I can get up to 7.1 output (I have a 5.1 setup). But if I want to use the digital out I can only get stereo. I'm guessing this is some sort of DRM issue, but it is annoying since I'm not playing any DRM content.

The guy who came up with the idea of DRM should be taken out back and shot.

I never clean my keyboard. Drives my husband nuts because there's always crumbs and various crap crunching around in there. Gross... but sort of funny because it really doesn't bother me at all.

Whenever I start up Vista the sideboard (I think that's what it's called) starts reporting that my two cores are using 50 to 100% capacity. Core Temp reports the same thing so I exit the sideboard and everything's okay. A minor annoyance but I'd like to know what's going on.

It totally screws up you "GROUP BY" clauses, unless you are partitioning in an analytic function.
* very bad DB speak

Similar to Soul, my DVD drive stopped working after I put a second drive in. I hardly ever needed to burn anything so it didn't bother me and if I did, I just used the laptop instead. I kept meaning to look at it but was just too lazy to turn it off and crack the cover. A couple of weeks ago, after waiting a good 18 months, I finally got to it and found the ribbon cable on the drive was loose.

My iPod touch refuses to let windows access its photos. I plug it in via USB and it syncs with iTines great but the Windows dialogue box that let's me access screenshots off it does not appear.

For some reason, my Macbook and my Vista box aren't on speaking terms. Can't share files between the two.
So I just transfer files either on a USB flash drive or via a shared hard drive connected to my router. It's stupid, but I'd rather chew thumbtacks then trouble shoot my network.
