The guy isn't much of a champion for anything but irresponsible fossil fuel development, but I guess that's still how Alberta likes it these days.

lol well that isn't true at all but believe whatever you want.

Also I have no idea what he's doing here either, for what it's worth. Just didn't know he wasn't allowed to travel to Alberta. Also also, you're aware the US still uses like, an absolute #### ton of oil, right? Like, the demand is rising, not falling. And they just cut off Russia as a supplier. You are aware of this, right?

Let's not be naive. Fossil fuel development is the primary reason we're not all living like it's the 18th century. Perhaps peter would like it that way...think of all the top hats!

Well if the goal is to get Biden and the democrats on board to import more Canadian oil and maybe actually build another pipeline or two, having our premier meet with the most reviled man in their party probably isn't the smartest way to go about it

Could be a consideration, along with implications of China helping Russia, but I think they're also focusing more on developing countries where they don't have to deal with pesky environmental and labour regulations.

Alberta likes irresponsible fossil fuel development? Whats wrong with you?

Alberta is a world leader when it comes to CLEAN fossil fuel development.

No meeting with a Dem that has zero influence is the worst. Meeting a guy who killed build back better is very smart.

Manchin: “You want this Joe, well you will have to support more Canadian oil.”

That is until November, but before the Dems are flushed and Biden isolated, Manchin holds a crazy amount of power to get something done.

Manchin is the last person Alberta should be getting cozy with.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/27/c...conflicts.html

Quote:
Mr. Manchin supplied a type of low-grade coal mixed with rock and clay known as “gob” that is typically cast aside as junk by mining companies but can be burned to produce electricity. In addition, he arranged to receive a slice of the revenue from electricity generated by the plant — electric bills paid by his constituents.

The deal inked decades ago has made Mr. Manchin, now 74, a rich man.

While the fact that Mr. Manchin owns a coal business is well-known, an examination by The New York Times offers a more detailed portrait of the degree to which Mr. Manchin’s business has been interwoven with his official actions. He created his business while a state lawmaker in anticipation of the Grant Town plant, which has been the sole customer for his gob for the past 20 years, according to federal data. At key moments over the years, Mr. Manchin used his political influence to benefit the plant. He urged a state official to approve its air pollution permit, pushed fellow lawmakers to support a tax credit that helped the plant, and worked behind the scenes to facilitate a rate increase that drove up revenue for the plant — and electricity costs for West Virginians.

In the middle of his second term as governor, Mr. Manchin handily won a special election in 2010 to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the death of Robert Byrd. From a seat on the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Manchin had an ability to shape federal policy governing oil, gas and coal.

He became one of the most vocal opponents to the E.P.A.’s proposed limits on emissions of mercury and other hazardous substances from power plants. The mercury regulations, which eventually took effect, were particularly threatening to plants like Grant Town, because gob generates more mercury per kilowatt of electricity when burned than traditional coal, according to Lisa Evans, senior counsel at the environmental advocacy group Earthjustice.

Canadian oil sands extraction less carbon intensive than a conventional California barrel. Canada is a world leader in technology to reduce emissions.

The price of Oil has been stealing the spotlight lately but the thing to watch today is does Natural Gas HH pricing break $8USD today, sitting at $7.92 right now. AECO not far behind at $7.66 CAD yesterday.
