The NFL seems to be showing you can travel in order to play games safely, but they only once a week, so still seems unlikely NHL could look at a full schedule at least to start.

I like how they did the trophy presentation and handoff, I thought it was super classy. Also like that Bettman announced Tampa requested it to be that way. You barely noticed there were no fans because of how well it was done.
Then you have the Superbowl debacle of a presentation, LoL.

I'm pretty sure that every team to win a cup in the cap era has had top 3 pick on their roster at the time, and also picked top 2 at some point in the previous 15 years (not always the same player at the end though...Stl picked E Johnson 1OA, Bouwmeester 3OA was on their roster for the cup).

Arguably the only samples that really matter. At least, the samples that should matter the most. Perhaps some of these commonalities among cup-winning teams are not actually just coincidental?

Drawing a conclusion that you can't trade for a goalie and win the cup, based on the fact that the last 8 years were all drafted goalies, is flat out stupid. Sorry, but it is. There is no reason why a traded goalie can't win the cup.
Prior to the period quoted, there were traded goalies that won the cup. And guess what, there will be in the future as well.
It is human nature to see patterns - even when patterns don't exist. One of the consequences of this human trait is that we are quick to draw conclusions from data that are unwarranted.

I find it shocking that opposing players would not have warm feelings and empathy for the Dallas Stars.

This means the Flames won't win with Talbot in net! Case in point!

I'm wondering if he's one of the guys who came out to the podium with Cooper for the post game presser. If so, Cooper brought out all thr behind the scenes guys like the video guys, eyes in the sky, etc.

There was some good players picked too, but a couple of misses. Lindros' career was cut short and hampered by concussion issues. Berard had the eye injury. Daigle had motivation injuries. Sundin played for the Leafs.
Nordiques picked 1st overall, three years in a row. 89, 90 & 91. They moved and won the Cup in 96. After they had traded all three players to help build a strong team. Lindros gave them Forsberg and a couple of key players to help them win.
For some players it doesn't reflect how good they are as a player and a team member but sometimes they just had bad luck to not be on a team who could build a championship.
89 - Sundin
90 - Nolan
91 - Lindros
92 - Hamrlik
93 - Daigle
94 - Jovanovski
95 - Berard
96 - Phillips
97 - Thornton

Yup. And I’d actually argue that in recent years scouting and talent management has been better where generally if you’re a top pick you have a much better chance of realizing that potential. There have been a few who haven’t made it as high as they should, without stating the obvious names.
