Looks like Tkachuk is trying not to step on him...####ing Leafs
super slow mo alternate angles lol
And that clip of him being injured, how is that relevant since it happened on another play
Knee never even hits his head
Any other team and we hear nothing else about it

The Flames really miss Dube. They need another skilled player. I wonder if Gawdin or Phillips could fill the gap until Dube is healthy? The players on the taxi squad are not exactly what you would consider skilled by any stretch and just can't fill the gap.
Lucic is a huge problem for the Flames. He appears to be thinking the game, but not able tp physically make the plays anymore. He needs to be in the pressbox for the remainder of the season.
One last point, has anyone seen Sam Bennett this season?

Honestly I don’t think that was a very smart play by Tkachuk.
Not suspension worthy or anything but I do think he could have avoided falling knee first on Campbells back/head as he did, he wasn’t driven into the goalie from behind as is usually the case in those scenarios.
Was a bit greasy by him, and if somebody did it to Markstrom at the end of a game I doubt we’d be happy too.

Looking at these videos, things like this happen all the time when you have players shoving around the net.
Tkachuk has done worse “accidentally” many times.

I'm just going to be that guy and say the Flames played really well.
Toronto is a good team. I thought the Flames had the balance of chances on the ledger. Flames controlled the defensive zone well. Toronto is playing a more defensive game lately as well.
Unfortunate to have so many bad bounces today, but if they play like that they'll win a LOT of games this year.
I like the makeup of this team. I think they're one really good player away from a championship squad.

61% Corsi For (42-27)
57% High Danger For (12-9)
60% Expected Goals (2.5 - 1.6)
They were unlucky though as two bad bounces happened and it ends up being 1 GF - 2 GA for those lines at even strength.
The bottom 3 (namely Lucic and Nordstrom) is bad though corsi was 40%, and High Danger chances were 0 for and 3 against. Biggest issue is momentum just turns every time they are on the ice too.

Thank you, you just confirmed my eye test. The team is really good and they need to tinker with the 4th line to get something out of them to at least break even.

I dont know whats the best outcome of his fall, as he was 100% gonna fall no matter what. Do you try and do the splits from your knees? Do you try and get a skate down, risking a major cut around the goalies head/neck?
I think Chucky greased it a bit and I dont like the play, but really it wasn't the JFKing that the reddit thread reads like.

Of course it was Tkachuk in the middle of that. As a Flame fan, I think you have just have to own that he is going to have these types of incidents and he is rarely “innocent”. I just kind of look at all of them the same way and some just turn out worse than others. The game happens quickly.

You can see that rather than driving his knee into Campbell's head like he could've (basically what every Leafs fan seems to believe), you can see that Tkachuk actually not only makes sure his knee stays in the air as long as possible, but also adjusts his knee so it hits Campbell flush rather than with his knee pointed, which would've been a lot worse.
Obviously it's Tkachuk so there was some intent there, but he could've "accidentally" hit Campbell a lot worse on that play. Leafs fans making a lot outta nothing.
Even Campbell after the game said he doesn't see Tkachuk as a menace, but as a really good player.

Everyone tries to evaluate intentions based on slomo videos too.
What they accuse people of based on slo mo replays make no sense.
Definitely not saying that Tkachuk doesn’t make sure he ends up on top of the goalie, because he does. He does make sure that other players are shoving him there.

Only one game but I thought the Lindholm line was a little out of sync today. Not blaming Mangiapane — I actually thought he was pretty engaged — but I don’t think the chemistry is quite there yet. Hopefully Dube isn’t out too long because I think Backlund-Mangiapane are better together (versus the offensive black hole that is Bennett-Backlund-Leivo).

How ‘bout Lindholm’s play breaking up that 2 on 1?

This game could have easily gone the other way.
They did not play badly.
We have all seen this team come out much worse after a break.

Ryan seems to start each season slowly.
Bennett seems to start each season once the playoffs begin.
