A Tuesday night in April was never going to sell well. Hence the "pay what you want" promotion...

I'm amazed more people arent all over it. 15 bucks for live sports is the best deal i've seen in a long time.

Unfortunately, with the location, even with a great price, that is really tough to do on a Tuesday night for anyone not in the far south.

I don't think Tommy to the national team is a fit, but his name has been popping up in the few places that talk about this sort of thing. Just signed a contract extension with Cavalry last week....

Please no. I love Tommy, but we can't take someone from a backwater league where players have second jobs and throw them in a position where they are telling a bunch of guys playing in the world's top flight how to defend Messi and Mbappé.

This would be so on-brand for Canada Soccer.

When I see our roster, and then I see a starting lineup like this, I wonder wtf is Tommy thinking.

Has to be resting players for Tuesday otherwise this is just baffling...

I've been wondering about Kamdem's ability to play further up, as he looks decent on the ball.

Still not sure if Kobza is better as a DM or CB, so don't mind that either.

Shome and Shaw are a bit baffling.

Ya, not sure why the insistence of Shome at fullback over Aird. It didn't work last year. It didn't work last week. I could see Kamdem and Field as fullbacks making more sense.

Kobza was a CB in University and I think that's where he's the most comfortable. No issues with him there.

That was very defensive again. We need to get some bodies forward.

No one can put the ball in the back of the net. It's painful to watch.

The OG saved us there.

I think Tommy is trying a little too hard with the tactics to start the season. The back 5 with Shome inverting just isn’t effective. This team is built for a 4231, just play that and let the talent go for it.

And time to rotate Carducci, that was another questionable one.

I’ll take a 1-1 draw in Ottawa ahead of a Can Champ match on Tuesday.

With Akio on the right, Kamden (then Musse) on the left I am surprised that Shaw was the starter. He’s not a big physical guy and the game plan seemed to be put in crosses. Seems like a mismatch in play styles to me. Especially seems weird to try and pump in a million crosses against Didic. But it almost worked.

I liked Shome inverting today, I’m surprised so many don’t. Thought he really helped Cavalry control play especially with Trafford and Gutierrez (and Klomp) being sloppy with the ball. Now that said I think the lineup and formation they ended the match with was better than the one they started with. I think Shome has to be on the field as he’s their smartest midfielder and it probably comes down to whether or not you think Trafford or Aird is going to have the bigger impact on the game as to where Shome plays.

Aird had a couple beautiful crosses but otherwise was not good. I like him being used in a “break glass in case of emergency” role to come in and hit crosses if they need a goal. Or he would’ve been a better option to start at RW instead of Akio to pump in crosses.

Marco has got to do better than make himself as small as possible on that corner. Play Barrett in the cup.

I think Shome does a good job at inverting, I just don’t think it provides anything extra for us then just leaving him in midfield. When he inverts from this formation he still has 3 CBs behind him and all that control is in our own half. I’d rather see us ditch the 3rd CB (today was Field), put an actual winger where Camargo starts on the left, and have Camargo play as a 10 all the time.

I might go a little overboard on the tactics, but I always enjoy watching and discussing that part of the game!

I love to go overboard on tactics!

I thought one of the biggest problems today was Klomp looking to get so far forward in the second half and Trafford sitting in for him. It is a nice change of pace thing they can do to put people in different places but when it is done so consistently it would be far better to leave Klomp back and put a more progressive midfielder in the middle. Seems like they were intentionally handicapping themselves by doing that so often.

Lucas Dias looks like the real deal.

Brooks did well getting in good spots, curious if there is something there.

Watching away supporters celebrate a goal in an empty home stadium makes me miss those away days to Edmonton...
