With Duchene, Turris moves to RW where he likely slides behind Smith as well. So he's on the 3rd line with Nashville more than likely even if you give him C over Bonino there.

With his skill-set, he's not likely to find much of a fit in Nashville - though Neal didn't have much success in a similar role here. I think in their own ways, they're both pencilled into the 3rd line with hopes that they can contribute in the top-6

I think the sell is in the belief that Nashville-Neal is coming the other way and bringing a different dynamic than they can hope for best-case with Turris.

Risk on one side is Turris turning it around... and on the other the Turris contract is a bigger anchor if he doesn't

I think the Jets can be added to the list of teams that would have interest in Brodie or Hamonic once they settle their RFA situation. Losing Trouba and Myers are big hits to their blueline. I could also see some interest in bringing back Frolik on their end but the money likely doesn’t work

I doubt the money works with Brodie, as does the one year on his term.

I think they might try and move Ehlers for a very high end prospect d-man who's cheap with years of control left.

Interesting to hear some examples of players that fit that criteria? Does 1 high end prospect, Niku, and Pionk cover enough of their holes created by losing Trouba and Myers?

Valimaki would be a good start.

I would be surprised if there was a big market for a soft 60 point guy who makes 6 million a year. It is not like Ehlers is on a steal of a contract, he is paid slightly above market rate for similar type players.

Kylington for Ehlers works for me. Maybe add a mid prospect if you have to

FWIW, the Flames re-signed Backlund for the term and AAV that they did because they felt they'd need to add multiple players to do what he does.

No chance. I wish the Jets good luck in getting that type of player for Ehlers.

I also would think they would want someone with more experience to add to their d Corp

Their cap space may not allow it.

When is the next buy-out period? Gotta think buying out Stone would be the only option for the Flames if they can't move Brodie and/or Frolik.

I think it only opens up if we have an arbitration case.

Chances are good there will be one though. Rittich filed for one last year I believe.

Hamonic seems like a perfect fit imo.

second buy-out period opens 3 days after the club's final arbitration case is settled or the arbitrator gives out an award. This window opens for 48 hours. If the club has no arbitration cases, there is no buyout window for the club.

During this second buyout window, only players who were on the reserve list at the previous trade deadline and have a cap hit of ~$3.455 mil or more can be bought out.

Deadline to file for arbitration:
Player elected - July 5, 5pm ET
club elected - July 6, 5pm ET

First day of arbitration hearings: July 20
Last day of arbitration hearings: August 4

Flames players with arb rights:
Bennett
Rittich
Lomberg
Valiev

He is, and I don't want to give him to them. Especially not for Ehlers, who is fast and shifty but can disappear for lengthy periods of time.

Unless Hamonic got extended first I doubt the Jets do that deal anyway

Apparently said on SirriusXM radio today:

Rob Simpson @simmerpuck
Brad Treliving made it clear - a trade is coming to make room for his Flames RFAs. @StellickSimmer @GordStellick @SiriusXMNHL When and whom?
