Question though, is it worth the extra $10 for the deluxe edition? I've never been much into city building games, just Civilizations.

In a word, no. Get the standard.

I would say no, it isn't worth it. you just get a handful of extra buildings that you will use once. IMO anyway.

Oh OK cool I figured as much. Usually add-ons like that are useless.
Screenshots look pretty sweet, but I won't start this game for another week or so at least when I know I have some time

I've put quite a few hours into this game now. 1st game was a really bad town of 3000. Started fresh with 2nd game, got up to 8000 but wasn't understanding all the little details and was just scraping by with money. Now my third attempt is different. I turned on all items and unlimited money. I've paused the game and I'm building out the entire grid. I'm getting better at how to place roads and I'm reading up on the tips and tricks on where to put my buildings. Hopefully when I unpause it doesn't go horribly wrong

Raerei Cove. Among the top rated in Steam Workshop.
Btw, be careful with hydro power plants. I had a bit of an accident with one Gave half my city a thorough wash. The water is already coming down in this picture.

Nice use of green space. I'd live there. I wish that green space around neighborhoods would increase happiness without having to put a park in it.

Nice city psycnet. I like the road layout, gridlike but still aesthetically pleasing. Very well organized community structures.

I'm hoping someone comes up with a mod for that, or CO creates a DLC. I'd also love to see swimmers and sunbathers on the beaches.
I'm thinking you could have a zoning tool for unbuilt areas which designates an area a natural park and makes it accessible to cims. You'd need to include some rules that factor how much happiness (and health) they provide and what are the costs, plus obviously razing natural parks should come with heavy costs to happiness.
I imagine it's certainly doable. I wish I knew how to do that kind of stuff.

I imagine those kinds of mods are already under development or being thought of. The game is so mod friendly and popoular.

My city is falling apart!!
It says I have basically no demand for residents, yet, my industry is going bottom up from lack of workers.
Dead bodies everywhere.
I think its a traffic issue

Can you build outside of your "square"? I keep getting "out of city limits" when I drag a road over.
I was trying to build an industrial area on the other side of the starting highway but wasn't able to.

Thanks. There's also a mod available.
Here's a good list of some of the best mods out there:
