Panthers back to within a goal after a beautiful set up by Kiselevich (rookie d-man) for Dadonov. First NHL point for Bogdan Kiselevich. Flyers pull Elliott in favor of Pickard, even though they are still winning 5-4. Shows just how much confidence they have in ol' Moose.

Very next shift, Ekblad rings one off the post.

Bit of both I would think.

Barkov scores on a breakaway!!! Panthers tie it at 5!!!

Amazing comeback, considering just how bad they looked in the 2nd. No quit in this team. Lots of offensive weapons this year.

Still, horrible defense and below average goaltending, but at least they're scoring goals.

Is it possible Todd McLellan is fired tonight? I feel like the Oilers aren't going to wait too long here to do something.

Especially not with a genius waiting in the wings.

2-2

Honestly, though, based on this game, I am grudgingly impressed with the way Green has them playing. Good structure, spacing, communication, etc., in all 3 zones. If they keep this up, it should keep them in enough games to have them nowhere near Jack Hughes.

You picked the wrong year to not suck, Vancouver

Not feeling too bad about the Flames dropping 1 to Vancouver. They're giving a lot of good teams issues, and tonight they're even without Petterson.

Expect them to drop back eventually, but at least makes me feel a little better.

Especially on opening night where team dynamics and systems are still a little sloppy (compared to Vancouver who were already dialed in). Also, it was on the road. It was always a bit short sighted to be pissed at that loss.

While I'm sure they would go off the board and pick another Virtanen, I'd prefer they win a couple to stay away from Hughes.

Heck, keep them somewhat in the playoff picture so they hold on to Edler and any other UFA instead of getting picks. I mean it's obvious that the team isn't going to make any form of noise.

I love the idea that MacLellan would be the scapegoat, like he's the one trading away star players and high draft picks for junk.

Canucks win it in OT. Quite the start for that team.

Playing quick and within the system.

Lack of talent probably catches up to them eventually but they look much better than expected for sure.

The oilers may be in the midst of their worst ever season.

They look historically bad.
