Funny how one murdered journalist is causing drama...where a savage war in Yemen and the civilian casualties is all but ignored.

Man, the Saudis are a bunch of oafs. Like no finesse at all. The Mossad run around assassinating people all the time and they never get caught. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

Their connection to 9/11 is pretty much ignored too. I can't imagine an average American cares about Yemen.

Saudi Arabia is trying to send a message. They purposely left enough evidence to show somewhat conclusively what happens when you cross them.
Also Israel gets caught all the time. The difference is they take out militants and the leaders of militants groyps and not journalists. Australia was passed at them for almost a decade after Israel used a bunch of Australian passports to assassinate a senior militant in Dubai.

A good political killing says "what an unfortunate accident" and "we totally did that" at the same time.

The only good member of a death squad is a dead member!
These guys must be crapping their pants right now. Including the people who work in the Turkish embassy.

This is a stretch. I'm certain they wanted world-wide condemnation and a diplomatic tiff with the US over a mostly-inconsequential journalist who is no threat to an all powerful autocratic regime in Rihad. Yep, that makes sense. Do you also think they intentionally allowed this murder and dismemberment to be recorded on audio with potential for it to leak into public distribution? Anyone whose business it is to be concerned about potential actions by the Saudi's against them would fully understand when Kashoggi (sp?) just disappeared without all this ineptitude.

This whole situation reminds of the movie Syriana. Complete with bribes, torture, betrayal, Saudi, US and lots and lots of money (aka oil) in play.
So surreal to see it all play out in real life...

Saudi Arabia is set to release a statement that will blame a "rogue" 2 star general, who just happens to have close ties to the prince, for the journalist assassination.
Quote:
Saudi Arabia reportedly plans to admit that missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by Saudi agents, but will put the blame on a rogue general acting beyond his authority.
The Daily Beast on Tuesday reported that Saudi officials plan to pin Khashoggi's death on an unnamed Saudi two-star general, citing two anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
The report said the general is "new to intelligence work," seemingly setting up his inexperience as part of the reason for killing Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who often criticized the Saudi government.

First year on the job guys. We've all been there right? First interrogation, we should bring the bone saws and dismemberment team just in case.

This is the "unnamed" General that is appearing in a few channels. Perhaps The Saudis are leaking the name as a trial balloon to see how it flies in the media.
He is Major General Ahmad ‘Aseeri. His last name suggests he is from the western coastal area of ‘Aseer, which extends down into Yemen. The Clown Prince would find him dispensable because he doesn't have any bloodlines to connect him to the “royal” family of Sa’ood.

I don't think the Saudis were expected the Turks to get involved in this situation as much as they did.
If they truly wanted to keep it quiet, surely they would have used a different locale?
