I swear, last month it was $10 for 1GB. They just keep gouging left and right.
Fido made a few changes to their data top-ups recently too. Some of them are downright predatory.

Last year, it was $15 for 1 GB of extra data. Now it's $20, and the only way to get that 1 GB top-up is to sign up for recurring top-ups every month unless you cancel the next month. If you do cancel at the beginning of the month to not get charged, they warn you that you will not be able to use any top-ups for the rest of that month. Finally, when you cancel, they make you respond to multiple texts in a row to confirm you're cancelling. If you're not paying attention you may assume you've already confirmed!

I've sent Fido a message voicing my concerns about this new set up and of course received the generic "thank you for sharing your feedback" response. I'm not very pleased about it all, since the only one-time top-up available now is 300 MB for $10.

It's a great country, if you don't use electricity.

We are getting boned.

True their prices are cheaper, but their service/reception is absolutely brutal.

We do pay more, however, the quality of our service/reception is exceptionally high. This is kind of impressive given how sparse our population is relative the our land mass.

Is that anecdotal?

It doesn't appear to be true.

According to a quick google search, Australia appears to have faster speeds, better coverage, and better 4G/LTE penetration in addition to better prices than Canada.

Wow that is some expensive electricity. Are the transmission lines made of gold? I had always assumed they were a benificiary of cheap coal like AB...

From my research, their problem comes from not properly replacing their aging coal fleet and now leaving very little reserve margin, renewable energy certificates, and legislation making it hard to find new NG sources even as they export a lot of existing production.

Australia with roughly 6x the population of Alberta only has about 3x as much electricity generation resources, meaning that it gets into trouble during a hot summer workday or a windless winter workday.

Yeah, it makes a big difference moving to the US.
Not really cheaper overall for a single person, but definitely for families and by the GB.
We are now on Tmobile. 3 lines for $120 total.
Unlimited NA calling and data (though throttled after 50GB per device).
Limit of 6 GB roaming in Canada or Mexico per month.
My usage jumped from about 7 GB/month to about 30

I got on that sweet, sweet 10gb for $60 plan with Rogers a few months back. Loving it so far. Used to pay $55 a month for 2gb.

I would not complain about the margins if the service/cost was reasonable but we're getting ripped off.
