You mean like 18 year old Sam Bennett, current superstar center for the Florida Panthers?

I firmly believe this organization doesn't know what to do with talented players, other than turning them into grinders and chasers.

I like the more sane idea of Reinhart. Get a good C without selling your entire future. I also wonder if the Monahan for Ristolainen idea gets resuscitated.

Eichel isn't worth mortgaging your entire future for. I just don't see it.

If Buffalo looks at the Calgary roster, the guy they are targeting is Lindholm.

Because he has, you know, played well as a centre while Eichel has been out. Like the #2 overall he was drafted in. Or at least that's what I have read recently LOL.
I don’t think Sam R wants to be there though. Otherwise I feel like he would’ve signed a better, long-term deal.

At the end of the day you make a deal for Eichel and then you have to get a firm yes or no from Gaudreau before the NTC kicks in.

I have no idea what Buffalo wants. They may well want Lindholm in there somehow as well.
That's exactly correct,

I could see Johnny saying "Let's see how playing with Eichel goes"?

Things go poorly, he's gone. Things go well, he may well still be gone, or perhaps you pay through the nose, which is not necessarily bad. I think there is less of a chance Johnny gives a firm answer if you get Eichel, as he might well be conflicted at that time.

I feel like they will be almost forced to move Eichel like how Dubois forced his way out. Which leaves them no choice but to keep Reinhart. I just don't see Eichel sticking around with comments like that.

They can definitely trade both, and Ristolainen also wants out too. I dont think we fully understand the gravity of the toxicity in Buffalo just yet.

For some reason I think we find out that the Pegulas are the worst owners in the league

I disagree. A guy like Eichel does not hit the trade market this often. If this team is serious about not wanting to rebuild, you give Buffalo whatever they want.

It all depends on how scorched earth they want to go. Their team has a worse makeup right now than Calgary, mainly because of the Skinner contract.

I'm sure the Flames can fix Eichel's herniated disc issues with operations - it's not like concussion problems, which is even worse. I don't think the Flames have even an inkling of lining up for any sweepstakes. So, if a player like Eichel is available and a trade can be made, do it. Right now, the Flames do have assets to trade from the current roster. With him being injured at the moment, could be a better bargain.

Could work. Just wish Reinhart was a little faster. I see a path to contender status building for responsible 2 way play like Vegas but the Flames need more speed.

Buffalo's having a Fire Sale.

Eichel for Kylington and Dubé.

Eichel doesn’t make sense for the Flames due to the cost to acquire him would gut the team.

If the deal was Tkachuk+Valimaki+21 1st then I can somewhat see the justification there. Gaudreau would need to be re-signed and the Flames could run it back with a true elite center where Johnny is now the clear cut second best player on his line.

Ultimately I feel like the Kings and Rangers represent his top choices for destinations, they have the assets to get a deal done, and have the desire to make the deal.

If Gaudreau and the team haven't at least verbally agreed to an extension by the time any trade involving core pieces on this club occurs, then he has to be the one going, and before his NTC kicks in.

Nope. How would you have worded it differently when it comes to his long term health?

I don’t know that Reinhart has ever had good success as a centre. His biggest PPG seasons have been on Eichel’s wing. Which is fine, we need a RHS RW, but I don’t think he’s the answer at centre.

I feel like Lindholm only makes sense for teams in a win now window where they can push for the cup and the 4.85M deal makes sense. Lindholm fired his agent last year and no doubt had a little remorse going 6 years when he broke out completely in year 1 of the deal. He will want to be paid for his last long term deal so I think teams that make the most sense to chase him would be the Avs, Golden Knights, Capitals, Lightning, Penguins, etc

Yeah, I suspect thats a product of being the guy in the environment he has been in. It's also why I don't think Calgary is a destination for a guy like him either.

There's something off about him to me. Like it's everyone else's fault but his. And 8 don't like that much.

And I can't count how many times he's criticized the Sabers openly since being there.

It's not like they haven't tried to get the right ppl there.

Sabres have been a train wreck for years now. I can't fault any player on that roster that's putting themselves ahead of that organization.
