Default 2021 Magic Number

Did some math and I think its 14.

That’s a combo of Mtl wins or Cgy losses.

The number is smaller for Edm/Winn (11) and Toronto (8).

Montreal will have to fall sleep off a cliff somehow. Because there’s no way the Flames will be better than .500 down the stretch.

I really don’t think we need a magic number to know Calgary will not make the playoffs.

The "magic number" for me is 32. 32 years since my team was awesome.

What's the magic number for the Flames to land into the bottom 3 in the league? That's a more interesting number we want to know...

I’ll add it next update. I think we’re on track for the bottom 5 at least.

In a 32 team league, that is par.

Except that for most of those years it was less than 32 teams, some years much less. We're wayyy over par now.

Going to take a chance here.

15 games left.

Magic number number is 13.

5 games against Montreal will decide it. Most of the other games are against ottawa and vancouver.

Stars will have to align. But Montreal does suck. So you never know.

12 with 14 games left.

Have to essentially win all 5 against the habs.

5-0 vs the Habs would drop us to what, a magic number of 2 with 9 to go? Assuming no 3 point games in there, and excluding other games of course.

I like to think of the 5 remaining games against the habs as basically a playoff series, except Montreal already is leading 2-0. Need to go 4-1 or 5-0 to win and move on.

Habs are a sham and have been all year. Flames could be heating up with the trade deadline out of the way and getting used to Sutter’s systems...there’s definitely a chance. An improbable chance, but not an immaterial chance.

I started to wonder, when was the last time the Flames squeaked into the playoffs in a last push? Can't think of a season like that.

I feel like usually the teams been at its worst in the last games of the season.
