- M-F carbs under 100g, 150+g of protein (likely more). Intermittent fast from 10PM at night until 2PM the next day.
- BCAA's before noon workout
- Saturday one cheat meal
- Sunday free for all
- gym 5 days a week, golf 3 days a week, usually walking
In 4 months I went from relatively fit 40 year old to "what steroids are you taking"?
It's an unbelievably effective way of dropping weight.
Eating Tips:
- get boxes of Smart Sweets from Costco
- Save-on has specials on wings, sausages and skewers through the week.
- swap bean pasta for pasta
- Keto wraps off Amazon
- Keto buns are easy to find
- Sugarless ketchup
- Tuna salads drenched in Subway dressing for lunch
- bacon and eggs for breakfast
- flavoured pork rinds dipped in baba ghanoush (this is debateable, I smoke a lot of weed)
- Ice water and MIO drops

I think that I could handle keto with that. But, just to confirm, is that basically Saturday dinner and then Sunday you eat whatever you want? I could never do keto as a long lasting thing, but I could probably handle a month or two with a legit cheat day thrown in .
I have no idea who Sussons is, but whoever they are, they are an idiot.
Food doesn't change how it is processed based on its temperature when you put it in your mouth. If at any time you thought this might be true, then you are also an idiot.
Well, I was motivated to look it up and turns out the idiot is looking at you from the bathroom mirror. I kid - I had no idea until I looked:
Yah, that already sounded pretty fishy from the start. Your body regulates the temperature of stuff you consume, so it honestly doesn't matter that much what temperature you consume the food at, other than the miniscule energy your body uses to regulate that food temperature inside your body (ie. if you drink ice water, and your body uses a bit of energy to warm it up to body temperature in your body).
The only way there's a difference in calories, macros, etc is if the actual food composition is changed (ie. raw vs. cooked food).
How you get your resistant starch is the problem. Resistant starches make up a small percentage of total carbohydrates in the foods that contain them, and the foods that contain them tend to be high in carbohydrates overall.
A resistant starch isolate like Bob's Red Mill Potato Starch is probably fine from everything I've found on the subject. But the second you cook a resistant starch, it chemically changes to become a non-resistant starch which is pretty much exactly what you're seeking to avoid with a ketogenic diet.
edit: Keto Connect did a video on it. Small study, small sample sizes, so your mileage may vary.

Tron- what bean pasta are you getting? Any of them I’ve seen are gluten free; as opposed to being low carb. Pasta is the one thing I haven’t been able to find a good substitute for.

Explore Cuisine black bean pasta. You can get it at save-on in the natural foods aisle. Kinda tastes like dirt but has like 8 net carbs per serving, and 2 servings filled me up.
There’s also mung bean pasta. Same deal. It chews like dehydrated rubber and squeaky cheese.
I had a trainer tell me once he didn’t eat for taste and that’s what I was doing. No more mung beans for this guy though.

4-week update. Now, I understand. I think I actually reached fat adaptation about 2 days ago. No more weakness in the afternoon. Now I have plenty of energy during the day. I don't feel hungry. Doing further research into the health benefits of keto, I am a convert - I am going to try to stick with this long-term. I will incorporate berries and tomatoes/red peppers back into my diet, but, otherwise, I can do this and am not missing anything really. Even re-worked the keto pizza recipe into something I actually like. High-cocoa chocolate (80%+) with nuts was my go-to dessert already, so no need to change anything there... Curious to see where my weight stabilizes.

I decided to give this a shot starting tomorrow. I feel like I should be able to stick with it (although I may drift to what Tron describes earlier with a cheat day in there!). I feel like I’ll try it for 4-6 weeks and see how it goes. Might be a good thing for me to not have a drink at the golf course with each round I play!
I’ve been doing the intermittent fasting for a while and overall I like that. Really the only thing I don’t like is that I can’t have cream in my coffee. I might miss that forever.

If you drink, go for Michelob Ultra or another low carb beer. Failing that go with Bud light or Coors light. I prefer Bud light on tap.
If you are after weight loss, working out fasted and then having a high protein meal, and keeping daily carbs under 100g a day worked best for me. Took a bit of getting used to but I do it all the time now.

That's the one thing I allowed myself when fasting, cream in my coffee. Watching a few more of Dr. Fung's videos he says that while it's best to have nothing, if you have to do things like that to get you through a fast- go ahead.
There's no way I could have done as many 36 hour fasts without it.

It mostly caught my eye because it is GF, but damn, not cheap. $18 for 4 bagels? Ugh. Lots of good looking stuff though.
Slava can speak to this too, but my employees got me a keto chocolate cake and some different cupcakes from this place, and we (the family) loved them. Had some cake at the office, but I basically polished off the rest over 2 days and still lost 2 lbs that week. The stuff tasted surprisingly good - I was expecting the "sawdust mixed with cardboard" flavour that one gets with gluten-free stuff, but this was really enjoyable. Obviously, cream cheese was a big part of it, as it had an understated sweetness with a sour hint to it, but I loved that, since I hate overly sweet stuff. Have not tried anything else from there. Their keto rolls/buns look like exactly the same ones we make at home.

Boutique, local store bought keto is a total rip off. Don't bother.
You can get reasonably priced stuff at Costco, Save on or Superstore. For everything else like premade wraps etc use Amazon, or use Amazon to order all the ingredients and make it yourself. It takes a bit of work, but if you meal plan it's not that bad, and similar in price.

Superstore has keto stuff?
