Cooper in Tampa Bay started an all black forward line tonight v Florida. One of the starting players referred to Jarome Iginla as his inspiration growing up.

The Avalanche win 2-1 in regulation time over the Knights. The Knights gave it everything they had. Grubauer made 36 saves. The Avalanche can still finish in first, second, or third place.

2 at 3 in the shootout

The Islanders were out shot 18-4 in the 1st period and 38-18 in the game. The Isles pulled the goalie late in the 3rd period when it was 2-2 because they needed to win in reg time in order to pass the Bruins for 3rd place. The Isles are 4th in the division and will play the 1st place Penguins. Boston is 3rd and will play the 2nd place Capitals.

2 at 1 in regulation

From the post game links, "
Without (Grubauer) we don't have a chance," Coach Bednar said. It really was the Grubauer show. Both teams couldn't score on the PP, 0/3 for the Knights and 0/2 for the Avs. Newhook had 2 assists for the Avs.

The shots were 30-30, but Driedger gets the SHUTOUT. The win clinches 2nd place for the cats and will have home ice advantage in the battle of Florida playoff series. Both teams were perfect on the PK with each team going 5/5. This game had far less penalties than on Sat. There were only 38 minutes of penalties, the previous game had 154 minutes. This should be an excellent playoff series and the Panthers are going in hot by winning the past 7 straight games.

The Canucks won 3-1, Hoglander had 2 goals and Demko made 39 saves. The Canucks were officially eliminated from the playoff race with the Habs OT loss. Both teams couldn't score on the PP. The Jets are 1-9-0 in their past 10 games and could fall to 4th place, the Habs are just 1 point back of them.

How was Vegas allowed to have only 10 forwards and 5 defensemen? I figured there would be a rule against that.

Nope.

Remember when it happened to the Flames at the end of the season that one year with Keenan because we had multiple injuries to expensive players that couldn't go on LTIR?

Flames beat Edmonton 4-1 with only 9 forwards, 6 D, 1 goalie (McElhinney).

And 3 of those D were Pardy, Negrin, and Pelech.

I vaguely recall they were out of pro contracts as well?
