We've got some huge centre backs between Yao, Klomp and Trafford.
This kid is reportedly dominant in the air. Looks like an absolute unit. Nice to add U21 and CB depth with only one signing, it makes the rest of the roster more flexible.

Cavalry will be tough to deal with for set pieces!

Could still use some more depth at wing back but I'm liking our defence so far:
DL - Tom Field
DC - Daan Klomp
DC - Karifa Yao
DC - Mason Trafford
DR - Mohamed Farsi
I guess the same can be said for needing some more depth on the wings up front too. Assuming Pasquotti isn't healthy we've got Escalante & Luca and maybe Hernandez for those positions.

There’s the under 21 minutes. Even if Pepple does stay around he’d be the only chap to make up those minutes, and his profile of position really doesn’t guarantee that the club has him chew through minutes if he’s not burying the ball in the net...whereas a CB has the ability to chew through minutes, and get support from the MF or others in the back if they struggle.
A striker doesn’t get that same type of general support when they are supposed to basically score.

Starting in 2023, there will be two CanPL spots in the new CONCACAF Champions League format + The Canadian Championship winner + the possibity of Canadian MLS clubs qualifying through the allocated MLS spots. Great news for CanPL and Canadian soccer in general.
I'm daydreaming about seeing Cavalry play Club America at Azteca!

Good interview with Nik Ledgerwood on the first few years of the league, and some of the growing pains the league is undergoing.

I don't think he's wrong, but I don't see things changing.

Agreed. Jair Cordova came to mind when I read that. On paper that guy should have been an absolute stud at the CanPL level, but he looked pretty ordinary and quickly moved on.
When you factor in the messed up 2020 and that he was nursing an injury, makes you wonder if he just needed more time.

So it sounds like the club was caught off guard with the whole Zator York signing, FWIW. This was from a conversation I had with someone in the know. Our conversation got cut off, but I’ll try to get some more details.

Yikes, that's disappointing. Of course, in a league where most players make under $30k, it's pretty hard to fault the Zator camp for going to York if it was a better offer by even a few thousand compared to what Cavalry may have offered (assuming he comes back from Sweden).

Mo Farsi and Karifa Yao made the 50 man Canadian Olympic qualifying preliminary roster.

Wow that would be a big loss. Tommy is baked into the club identity. Although that's a big move if he gets it, so I hope he can grow his club management career, he deserves it.

I believe in the Jays.

Losing Tommy would suck. It’s been such a choppy couple of years to start this league, and there is already so much roster turnover that this timing would be extra painful. Would really be a great opportunity for him though.

Wow. That would be huge. Imagine replacing Thierry freaking Henry.
I'll see if I can get some insider info tomorrow when I see some Foothills guys. Hopefully none of them are on this board...lol

I can't see Tommy to Montreal actually happening, but I've heard more to suggest there's maybe a little smoke there. I understand there's a pretty good relationship between the clubs with the Voyageurs Cup match in 2019, Waterman transfer and the Yao loan.
It would be a huge move for Tommy and the CPL in general, but I think Montreal supporters would not be happy. He would be considered too inexperienced and doesn't speak French.

Yea I don't get it from a Mtl. standpoint either. Good to see Tommy even in the conversation though. I'm sure he'll get an opportunity somewhere at some point. He has succeeded at every level he's coached at so far.
