Exactly.
The organization went into the year believing the players could pull it together and be a playoff team. The players got their chance, and they proved what they were. The ceiling required does not exist with this current build, and Conroy and the rest of management gave the roster every opportunity to get the job done...they just didn't have it.

Professional athletes seem so whiny sometimes. Like for ####s sakes, maybe if you guys would’ve played better for the first four months of the season this wouldn’t be an issue. Not to mention all of last season. But now it’s all woe is me it’ll gut the room! You know what gutted the room? Playing like #### for the last season and a half.

Selling high on Markstrom would have been dealing him before the 22 deadline.

Markstrom was pretty much the worst starting goalie in the league last year in a season where the Flamrs barely missed the playoffs.
Plus he was a total sieve in the first playoff battle of Alberta in 30 years.
He shouldn't be whining at all.
Now that he has value again, get rid of him.

Be fair. The whole team was a dumpster fire last year

Is Marky suggesting Flames leaked the deal with NJD?
If not, I don’t know what else Conroy could have done.
It seems to have gone something like this:
Conroy: ‘Meet my price or I won’t even ask Marky to waive.’’
Fritz: ‘Hey Frank, Flames are nuts. We offered lost and Marky is in, but Conroy blew it.’

I know we don't have nearly all the details, I'm sure sometime soon more will spill out. But its quite possible Markstrom was told it was basically a done deal, prepare to move etc. This is evidenced by him sitting out (Wolf's unexpected start), tossing pucks to fans...lined up with the buzz on here from multiple sources indicating a deal was all but done.

The only reason they weren't a playoff team was because they were exceptionally sub-average in OT/SO situations.

Time to move Markstrom. Don't know exactly what he is complaining about, but his buddy Tanev asked to be traded to a contender, and that was what Conroy did. Every player that moved is a player that wanted out.
The only thing he would have to complain about was the leaks about his own trade rumours, which is fine and fair. If I am Conroy, and the offer on the table for Markstrom is underwhelming, I have to go to Markstrom and figure out if this can be mended or not. If not, trade him. If the package is good, trade him. If Fitzgerald starts smelling a tenuous relationship here, or if Markstrom just gets upset and demands to be traded, prices drop.

Yeah, you are probably right.
This just got ugly. Time to move on.
I hope Vladar starts tomorrow.

Yep
If markstrom were 1/2 adequate last year, we may have even won a couple of rounds
Now he’s publicly critical because everything wasn’t done to his standards
Interesting

Flames were awful last year. They were in the bottom half of scoring as a team and the amount of fames they lost writh goaltending giving up less than 3 goals was q back breaker

This Markstrom under Darryl Sutter would've had a Cup banner hanging from the rafters
