Default Bitcoin

Since we skew old and above average wealth, this might be useful, much like the scams thread.
Are we in Bitcoin? Why or why not? Best way of acquiring it? How do you store it in a secure fashion? Is the risk associated with owning something on the interwebs overblown? Anything else you want to ask or offer?

We mined tons of bitcoins in 2011. Sold them in 2012.

Now stuck working the rest of my adult life. Therapy?

What's the best way to get BTC to CAD?

Anyone have a coinsquare referral code?

a buddy of mine is big on 'xrp' and has talked with me about it - but i don't know - to me the whole crypto currency stuff just seems so sketchy.

Newton has the lowest fees in Canada that I've found.

Here is my referral link if you want to set up an account - https://web.newton.co/r/EO0M91

I always kick myself for not getting into bitcoin mining at the start, but I'm sure it's worse having actually done so but selling before it skyrocketed

Yeah I did some mining a while ago, sold for a pretty nice sum but if I'd just held onto them until today I'd be looking at 20x the return.

I use NDAX and Wealthsimple. Got in with a little bit when BC was at $60,000. I check it once in a while, that's all. Wish I got back in it years ago, but hindsight is always 20/20...

I did web development a decade ago for a guy and at the end he offered to pay me in BTC.

I thought it was a scam and turned it down and took the cash... still trying to forget about that.

I'm with your buddy, I own quite a bit of xrp.

Don't really understand it either, but the thought of cross border payments in seconds at a fraction of the cost seems pretty appealing.

Just need to put the lawsuit with the sec behind them, and then moon....hopefully.

My buddy works at one of the BTC 'branches' in Calgary and has been guiding me through my own personal BTC 'journey'. Ever since l learned how to e-transfer to my own wallet and buy/sell it's been pretty easy.

One thing I've learned about BTC people is that they sure love to jabber on about it. You think political nerds going on about the left/right are bad? Wait until you get a BTC guy going. My friend can talk about it for 2 hours straight while I have nothing to contribute other than a couple mumbles and nodding my head.

I'm no expert by any means but I can't deny my results; doubled my initial investment in no time flat. Any public company shares getting that kind of return in half a year, investors would be singing songs of praise.
