Some good parts of the game for sure, but I'll say that I for one am very content with my decision to stop supporting this team financially this year.

Watching on TV Neal’s chance was actually pretty close, as clunky as it looked.
Gaudreau’s move was absurd and Tkachuk was read like a book.

Before the start of this game Smith was sitting at .410 .866 that's not nearly good enough. Not entirely his fault but the guy is over the hill no way he's a starter anymore.

Not sure who or what Jordan Sigalet has pictures of from the Flames ownership group, but I have no idea why he wasn't jettisoned along with a bunch of inferior coaches after last season?
Doesn't make sense...

Ovi missed the net on that one, so idk if that's the best way to defend Smith.

Coming back from 2-0 and 3-2 = no signs of life. Whatever story you want to paint to make smart remarks, go for it, though.

Shootouts suck. What a dumb, terrible way to end a hockey game.
That said, I'm happy with the effort after the embarrassing debacle we witnessed the other night. It was good to see some passion and heart from these guys today, and it's not easy to come back against the Cup champs after being down 2-0 early. This was a well earned point IMO.
Still lots to work on obviously, especially with their defensive game. We still don't look like a playoff team yet, but today was a good start. Hopefully they can build on this and string a few W's together.
Smith looked slightly better, but our goaltending situation still makes me uneasy. I just feel so much better with Rittich in net.

Flames never embarrassed themselves...I'll take that as positive.

Oh, it was.
Point being, the difference between the two moves was little more than the result, so calling one crafty and questioning the other is silly, when their success basically hinges on the goalie, not the move.

Washington were poor today and they had a goalie that was 0-5 who was no great shakes.
This is going to be a long ####ing season.
BT has to get us a goalie.

that was probably neal's best game yet. i'm not sure why the microscope is on him when so many other players at the top end haven't been anywhere near good enough. better than 9-1, but still shaky as hell on defense, horrible at breaking out cleanly, bad at getting through the neutral zone, bad at generating chances
flames about right where they should be with a starter who's rocking a .866 save percentage and a 4.10 gaa
positive games from dube, bennett, czarnik, tkachuk, and andersson

Just keep Tkachuk on the top line, he’s our best all around player by a mile.

Positives: under 30 shots against, some emotion, and overall a decent game imo

Wow this place is miserable. Smith had a real good second half of the game and gave them a chance. Thought Gaudreau should have had about 4 pounts tonight. A shootout loss is no reason to be upset. They played better, even if Washington wasn't quite on their game.
Czarnik was better, so was Brodie. The Dube-Lindholm-Neal line had a few good shifts and if Dube wasn't cursed they should have scored a few. Hamonic had a few big blocks and looked more comfortable.
They are on the right track. Now they have to go and beat Toronto!

Definitely better game for him, but you kind of expect few of those saves if your starter is good enough to make a playoffs. And I am really not sure about that.

As much as I love Tkachuk, I think its obvious the refs aren't giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore, so constantly snapping his head back or laying on the ice for extended periods of time isn't accomplishing anything.
