I will send Bill Gates $1 for every save Mike Smith makes.

Omg please don't cheer for him. I remember once he scored a beauty against us and the Saddledome APPLAUDED him. I almost barfed. Like wtf people.
That aside, it's awesome watching great players live because you see some of the things they do away from the puck that you don't get on TV.

Yep, nevermind. Neal instead.
Good to see Peters holding his guys accountable.

Ryan has been pretty mediocre. At least it shows that there are no favourites, and we have a meritocracy going, unlike Gulutzan and his Brouwerplay.
I'm surprised by Valimaki sitting, but someone had to sit, and he did some mistakes last game. It's not a bad thing. Brodie also being demoted is a sign that poor effort will not be tolerated and unlike GG, no stick throwing incident needed.

I didn't know Hamonic was this close to playing, glad to have him back! Same with Czarnik, could use his speed.
Peters doesn't mess around, glad to see he has no problem holding people accountable a making changes if he sees fit.

Peluso cleared waivers less than a month ago, so he doesn't need to clear again to be sent down.
If Andersson stays up (and paired with Gio too), you have to think Treliving is working the phones trying to free up a spot on the blueline.
It is also decision time on Valimaki. If he plays one more NHL game, his contract kicks in this season. If he doesn't play another game with the Flames this season, it could still slide.

It really should be Hanifin or Brodie who is sitting. At least Brodie is off the PP, man he’s been brutal on it.

I'll send Warren Buffet $0.25 every time Mike Smith draws a penalty.
He could use it. That poor man.

Brodie - Stone was a second pairing at one point, to see that as a 3rd pairing this year shows how much depth the flames had gained over time.

If Gio/Andersson actually works out that opens up a lot of possibilities.
Love the depth that allows good players to sit in the press box and reset. I expect Ryan to comeback stronger.

I really like the look of those lines... if Bennett and Neal can get a spark with the big Jankowski I think this becomes a very dangerous and productive line.

It was one of those moments where a rookie looks completely over his head. Most of the team had trouble with the pressure from Montreal, but eventually they all responded to it. I thought Andersson was bad at times, but then he adjusted to the game and got better as it went on. The opposite could be said for Valimaki who crumbled under the pressure. The first time I've seen it from him.
It's just one of those nights in a raw rookie's career where they need to watch the game from up top and learn that way rather than continue to struggle on the ice. Remember, this is Valimaki's first season as a PROFESSIONAL. He hasn't had the seasoning time that Andersson has had in the AHL, and thus why Andersson looks a little more composed at times.
If I'm guessing, the game limit on his contract matters as well, and while he's been relatively good to start the year, it wouldn't shock me at all to see him go down to the AHL so his contract can slide another year. Andersson has looked better and better every game this year, so it might just be a situation where they can't afford to play two rookie defensemen night in and night out with all the errors that they make. Andersson isn't going to get much better in the AHL, but Valimaki likely will.
Sounds like it's a tough choice for the GM right now, so perhaps Valimaki gets a few more games to sort it out before they make a decision. I'm ok with carrying 8 defensemen in the short term.

Thought Valimaki struggled last game, Ryan hasn't done anything special this season. Hopefully Czarnik comes in flying and Hamonic is ready to go.

Just curious, but do donations to CP get re-invested back into the site? I kind of assumed CP had evolved into more of a self-sustaining/for-profit venture over the years (with the inclusion of sponsored sections etc).

Brodie's next destination is the pressbox if he doesn't improve.
