It's looking like the ride home should be decent. Hopefully just wet.

When I fell in my own driveway on the ice, I decided to take a day off. I really can't wait until all of this crap is gone.

My ride was good too, the only sections that were sketchy were the areas that had slush build up yesterday and tire ruts through them. They hardened up over night and if you didn't stay in the tracks you were gonna have a bad time. Main area where this was the case was underneath Memorial and 16th avenue.

I'm thinking today was the last day for the winter bike, got the road bike ready yesterday evening and conditions were very good this morning. With some more warm weather today I think the last icy spot under Memorial will be very minimal come tomorrow.

Yup, it felt like the first day of spring...I've got a few large ice patches so I'll probably keep the studs on and do a full "summerize" on the weekend.

Ice is mostly gone, but I'm not riding my road bike on all that gravel and other garbage that's still out there.
I've taken the plunge and joined our company's Ride to Conquer Cancer team! 200km in two days in August. Better get my butt in gear and lose some pounds.

I did the ride for 5 years. Good times. And it's more like 220-240km...My tip is to start early on the Sunday, get out in front of the slow pokes...

ALL ABOARD!

Another tip is to skip the first rest stop on both days. Again, it'll help you get ahead of the slower people.
Though this sometimes isn't an option if you're riding with a company team.
Saturday is a bit of a fuster cluck with a couple thousand people leaving at relatively the same time and inexperienced riders sometimes get caught up in the middle when they should hold back.

Ya, the first pit stop can be skipped, but I usually find it is time to dump my first load of coffee by then...

You guys better not be joking about this. I'm in Vancouver until Saturday and if I can come back to Calgary and it's road bike season...that might be the happiest day of the year so far.

I'm not doing the Ride this year habernac but if you want someone to train with let me know. This weather and not wanting to ride the trainer has slowed down my 10k goal progress.

Road bike this morning! Wooooo! Still took it easy just in case there were any slick spots that were not obvious. I also avoided the pathway around the zoo, according to signage it is closed for today only for "road widening". So the St. Georges drive detour it was.

I started my commutes to/from work today. I used my road bike; the roads were fine and it was obvious that the City had recently swept the bike lane on 10th St NW. Even portions of 4th St NW were clean around 64th Ave.
I only encountered ice at the top of the Shag Ripper.

Yeah I rode a bit of 10th street yesterday, extended my ride home a bit and used it before turning off to go under the rainbow. Having it swept was very nice. Good work Fuzz!
