NHL Teams need to develop younger execs imo.
I don't get why teams keep giving jobs to guys like PC who failed at their job in previous organizations. Like why would you want insight and advice someone who couldn't hold their previous job (or sucked at it). Look to the guys who put in the work at the lower levels and have a track record of positive or "winning" results.

Does Chiarelli have a bunch of incriminating photos or something?

This news on the heels of John Ferguson Jr being promoted to AGM in Phoenix. Is there another professional league that recycles bad executives and coaches like the NHL?

Even Mike Milbury got recycled into the NHL broadcaster pool, until he did something stupid there too.

Every other professional league in the world. Look at NFL coaches and managers, look at NBA coaches and managers, look at English Premier league managers. The owners trust people who know how the league works, and for examples look at the crappy jobs the NEW guys have done in Arizona and Toronto (no matter how hard the press tries Dubas is living off the players that Lou and Hunter brought in, he just overpaid them all).

NFL breaks in lots of new coaches. They recycle head coaches way less than the NHL. There are a few lifetime coordinators but I would say guys like Jeff Fisher are outliers and really bad managers like Matt Millen are out of the league where the belong.

Well the CFL is a nine team league so you can understand the recycling as the pool is a lot smaller with most American coaches not in tune with 3-down football making it harder to find new coaches or managers.

Is there a league more desperately in need of new blood in high positions than the NHL?
How much longer can we continually recycle these people.
Chiarelli, Ken Holland, Hitchcock, Lamoriello, Burke, Maloney, John Davidson, Doug Wilson, Don Waddell, Chuck Fletcher, Doug Armstrong, Tallon, now Ron Francis in Seattle.
I understand that there is a reason for some of these guys to continually get work, like Lamoriello. But a lot of these people have achieved little to no success in recent roles yet still get ample opportunity in the NHL. Chiarelli was an unmitigated disaster in Edmonton, Burke has accomplished next to nothing since his Stanley Cup in 2007, Ron Francis's Hurricane teams were brutal yet here he is managing a brand new expansion team into the ground. Chuck Fletcher's Wild teams won maybe 4 playoff rounds in 11 seasons, here are the keys to the Flyers front office.

It's brutal. Why the hell is Dallas Eakins still coaching an NHL team?

Every managerial position held by an incompetent retread is a position not held by someone who could potentially develop into a good coach/GM. Maybe someone who could eventually lead the Flames to the Stanley Cup would be developing on the Ducks?

It is a retread league. But then again who would you rather have - Dubas or Lou L?
Seriously, I think the issue is owners trust a mediocre track record more than no record at all. After all, look at how Treliving has suffered from hiring a couple guys with little or no HC experience (remember all the “no retreads” calls when GG was hired versus Boudreau).
