Flames How many points do the Flames need before the Trade Deadline?

Six of the next seven games are against Pacific Division teams, and all come before the trade deadline. Therefore, how many of the 14 possible points do the Flames need to collect before the trade deadline to not be considered sellers?

Discuss.

The Flames need about 20-22 of the 14 available points.

If they can get 10/14 they're right in the running...

My guess though is they get 6-8/14, and are sellers. Which I prefer by a lot to be honest, would rather have a definite plan than wallow around as a bubble team.

I think they have to be now, regardless of what they do on the trip.

They are still a rebuilding team and have not had a strong enough year at all not to be massive sellers.

I say 13-14, but even then I hope a 7-game win streak isn't enough for BT to start thinking that Wideman, Russell, Jones, Hudler, Colborne and the rest of the tradeables are worth keeping.

Even if they win them all, they should still be selling at the deadline.

I think they should sell regardless. But if they can get 11-12pts and swing a trade for a legit #1 goalie I am okay with them not selling at the deadline the way I want them to. Personally I think Hudler and Russell should be moved no matter what but I also think right now all players outside the core 6 should be shopped for deals.

The Flames have 9 games left before the trade deadline, not 7.

If they are in the playoff picture at the deadline they should keep their FA players, let them walk for nothing. IMO playoff experience trumps a few 2nd round or later picks.

Realizing that they have 9 games, I voted 13-14 points. If 14-15 was available I may have picked that.

Like others I agree it isn't so much about buying or selling, just what would it take for them to be in the playoff hunt come deadline day.

Honestly, getting all 14 points in those 7 games is really needed. Would put our record at 31-25-3 over the first 59 games (90 point pace)

Last year we were 32-23-4 (95 point pace) over the first 59 games.

They should sell regardless, like they did last season with Glencross.

Looking at the games I see an optimistic 6 points (wins against Arizona, Minnesota, and Vancouver) which will likely leave them 4 - 6 points out of 30th at deadline day. I think it's pretty obvious what's going to transpire on the 29th.

In order to get themselves back into the playoff race, they need almost all of them.

However, they should be sellers regardless, even if they win every game.

Hey does everyone think that they should be sellers regardless?

But yeah. Sellers regardless.

They're not going to make it this year. It's okay.

I think we should be sellers no matter what.

Now if the Flames win the next seven in a row, let's face it, we would all be really excited around here and there would be some guys playing very, very well. That would be really interesting.

I don't think Glencross meant as much to the team as Hudler and Russell.

Flames probably won't be in the mix, as it is mostly out of their hands, but if they were I would keep both guys and hope for a serious case of 'play for your next contract' to help the team win a round.

Pretty sure ownership would prefer playoff revenue versus a couple of magic beans.
