Look, one time we lucked out and got Tkachuk instead of Laine.

Nothing in life is certain. Just because something doesn't work out for one team doesn't mean it will for another.
I think if the Flames ended up with Laine, it would have worked out better for Laine.
He'd be clearly the number 1 RW playing on a line with an elite playmaker in Gaudreau.
Laine wouldn't be complaining about the quality of his teammates or his ice time. He'd probably have multiple 50 goal seasons under his belt already.
Tkachuk likely would have demanded a trade out of Winnipeg already, just to follow with family tradition.

it will be interesting to watch Coronato and Sillinger's career, knowing a meaningless road win vs Vancouver after the playoff games already started is what swung the pick

I assume you are not suggesting that players should lose on purpose?
So, exactly what are you saying.

I guess I get being disappointed about a near miss with a player not dropping, I think it typically ends there.
A situation where if I was a fanbase gets/can be miffed is the situation with Arizona and Vancouver. Guenther will forever be tied based on the transaction. Even more so considering OEL came back.

There will be players drafted after both, that will be better than both. Youre having to reach just to torture yourself.

Think of it this way: Columbus saved us all from the torture of Sillinger being available and the Flames NOT drafting him, and the years of debate and hand wringing that would have caused.

I feel like we should let these players at least play 1 NHL game before getting into what-ifs

So you are going to tell your newly signed, high paid, #1 G that he isnt allowed to play for 2 weeks?
Yeah...that would work out well.

As a coach who is coming onto a team known for throwing in the towel when things get tough and trying to change the culture of said team.

Crash and Bang Winger

I'm struggling to name more than one center on the Blue Jackets, so I hope Sillinger has a decent shot at making that roster.

Considering that he’s lining up with Laine and Voracek in pre-season, I have to imagine he’s NHL bound.

Why can't we draft/ trade like Columbus. Fell flat after competing two-three years ago. Huge changes. Team really looks reloaded now. Chinakov, sillinger, marchenko all look like absolute steals. Sitting on a talent like laine who could explode back to 50g.
That's exciting stuff for fans.

I suspect Columbus would rather have PLD, Jones, and Anderson than a collection of prospects.
They are where they are because they were forced into it.
