Impressive. If hockey doesn’t work out for these guys, they should be able to get into a good college.

This interests me. Last year 19 teams started after the ASB on the road, and 12 teams played on home ice.

· Road teams were 7–8–4 (0.473), and were outscored by the home team 61–63 (-2).
· Home teams were 7–4–1 (0.625) and outscored the road team 31–28 (+3).

Not going to lie those numbers kind of surprise me. After the Christmas break this year there were 11 games. Home teams were 4-4-3, Visitors 7-3-1. Visitors out scored the home teams 41-33.

I remember Fleury on the radio broadcast before the Flames game against Edmonton, saying he would love to play in that first game on the road as the home team could still be in holiday mode.

Looking at holiday break +1 it was all the home team, as they went 8-0-1. Interesting.

Why are the number of home teams (12) and road teams (19) so different? That must mean a bunch of the road teams had a longer break and were playing against a team who had already played a game. Maybe a back to back even. It might kind of skew the results.

So with the Cayotes loss, tomorrow's game is now a contest for the division lead.

Yeah, I was also quite surprised to see such a disparity between the number of teams that played on the road v. at home. It has something to do with there being two bye weeks, so not every team is off at the same time. Not every team played their first game after the break against a team that also was playing their first. Som teams played two games against a team playing their first game back.

No doubt, there are various elements which affect these numbers, but I think it shows that on the whole there is not a clear advantage to playing the first game after the break on the road.
