Brand New released their new album last Friday kind of out of nowhere. They'd sent a CD copy of Science Fiction to fans who had pre-ordered it on vinyl and then two days later it was on streaming sites. Physical release is in October and will be their last.
It's kind of like a death note as the band is finished in 2018. The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is one of my all-time favourite albums. I've listened through it a few times now. I love it.

Pulled out the Forgetters self-titled album this week. So good! It's been seven years since Blake Schwarzenbach released anything new. Jawbreaker has reunited so maybe there will be a new Jawbreaker album down the road.

I heard this morning that Jessi Zazu, the frontwoman of Those Darlins, passed away about a week ago. She was only 28. Although I didn't much like their last album, I thought their self-titled debut and their second album, "Screws Get Loose" were pretty strong.
I've been listening to The War on Drugs for a while now, and while he clearly has influences from guys like Springsteen, Bryan Adams and other 70s/80s icons, there's something unique about it. It feels very familiar and comforting, but there's plenty of layers of sound. It's hypnotic, but complex. It sounds like an album that's been around for 30 years but is still brand new. Nostalgic, yet progressive. It's not something I would normally find myself liking, but goddam do I ever like it.

I love the Liars so decided to check out Plague Vendor, who I've been told is heavily influenced by the Liars. Their album "Free to Eat" is pretty good. This particular track is a standout.
