One of my childhood heroines has passed away. I know there are some cynical thoughts about celebrity deaths, but sometimes they just punch you in the feels. They also make you look at your own mortality.
Carrie was a cultural icon, but she was for a long time a deeply troubled person who battled a lot of demons and addictions and came all the way back.
I said it before, the World needs more Carrie Fishers, ladies that aren't necessarily obsessed with body image, who are smart and funny and gracious and don't take themselves seriously and that makes them hot.

Yeah, I'm not doing the 'screw 2016' thing, but this one really hurts.
Carrie was one of the good ones. I mean, she was a bad one, she did every type of drug known to man and a few I think she either found in a galaxy far, far away or invented herself. But she pulled herself up and sorted herself out and theres a lot of honour and dignity in that. Even when she admits that every single day she wanted to get back on the drugs and booze, she loved it and missed it but she wouldnt allow herself to go back.
Theres a lot of strength there and moral character along with a sardonic and self-deprecating sense of humour that I really enjoyed and respected.

She gave a great interview with Fresh Air's Terry Gross last month on her new book, a book where she reveals an affair with Harrision Ford during Star Wars. She was her engaging affable no filter self during it. Gary the dog makes an appearance just licking and licking.
