Default Luke Cage

Anyone else started watching yet? I watched a couple of episodes last night. I'd say so far, not as good as Jessica Jones, but still has me interested and I'll definitely keep going.

Spoiler!

I'll pass if it's not as good as Jessica Jones as I found that passable but not outstanding.

I'm halfway through and like it so far. It is tough to compare to JJ since the shows have a much different tone. I currently believe it is that it is very similar to Daredevil in quality, themes and plot but with better music. Some of the similarities I have noticed:

Good point, this may have worked better as a prequel to JJ or they could have done a better job explaining his move. I understand why he would want to run away and start a new life after the drama with JJ and Killgrave but moving to the other side of Central Park doesn't really accomplish that.

It's better than what I was expecting going in. Could have been better in certain areas, but on the whole it's a good show. It is different in a lot of ways from the two shows, while having a similar feeling if that makes sense. The music is awesome.

The main complaint is how he basically self nerfed his abilities because he would simply destroy anyone in this series. Much like in DD, there was not a lot competition for Murdock until Fisk snapped and then things got tougher for him in season 2. I'm sure the same thing will happen in season two for Cage.

I finished it off last night. It's enjoyable. On par with the rest in terms of story. There weren't any "that was awesome" moments for me though. Things like the hallway scene in S1 Daredevil or the big Punisher fight in S2.

It could be that I don't know a lot about Luke Cage's backstory from the comics so any "reveal" was wasted on me.

Spoiler!

Overall it's a good addition to the Netflix Marvel lineup.

I've only watched five episodes but so far I I'm loving it and my opinion this show so far is a lot better then Jessica Jones.

Not sure if I'm in the minority or not...I really like JJ but never managed to finish Daredevil S1.

Will start watching this one in the next week or so.

I actually think the same thing even though my friends have called me nuts. To me there were so many filler/whiny/back story episodes in season one of Daredevil that i was pretty bored for most of it. Thankfully it turned out that season 2 of DD was pretty amazeballs. It took me about three or four episodes to get hooked onto Jessica Jones and it as pretty good but right from the start i have supremely enjoyed Luke Cage and think its a great show.

1. DD S2
2. JJ S1
3. DD S1
4. LC

Not bad so far. This is just getting me prepped for Jessica Jones season 2 and then season one of Iron Fist. Iron Fist is the one series I am pumped for. Always been a fan.

Watched a few episodes and I hope it gets better, way behind Jessica Jones so far IMO.

Said this in another thread but I couldn't get past the cringeworthy dialogue. I wanted to like it but it really seemed like they lifted the writing directly from the old comic books and the quality of it definitely reflected that. I liked Remy but that's about it for actors. It wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't good. Feels like a missed opportunity for sure.

I actually like Shades a lot. He is probably my favorite villain so far which is saying a lot, because I really liked Kingpin.

Finished up the first season, it certainly had it's moments but overall I'd give it a big meh.

Looking forward now to JJ S2 and Iron Fist.

I really like Shades too. He was easily the most competent villain in this series.
Agree that I'd put him right up there with Kingpin for favorites.

Overall, this was a good series. Not sure where I'd rank it among Marvel's other Netflix releases. There's ton to like about it - most of the cast, the music, the setting, most of the characters. Cottonmouth was all right, if a bit goofy for a main antagonist. He was much, much better than Diamondback in the second half, though. And the last episode was super corny.
