To appeal he would have to post 20% of the award.

And from what I read her lawyer kinda shut the door on appeal by inadvertently saying "no objections" to every piece of evidence. And in civil trials apparently there's no incompetent defense appeal

Really? What if Trump simply doesn't pay, like all the contractors and event hosts he's stiffed over the years. I don't see him giving Carroll anything, it's not like he ever sees any consequences for ignoring laws and judicial judgements

I'm no lawyer and it's American law, but from what I understand it's a lot easier for Carroll to walk into trump tower and put her name on it because of a civil suit award than if it was a contested invoice

Well then, I look forward to visiting Carroll Tower in the future.

I'm not a lawyer and I can't find a proper source of record for this, but from what I've read in other forums, because it's a NY civil case, Trump will have to fork over the entire awarded amount to be put in escrow if he and his team decide to appeal.
He also stated during this trial that he has $400 million cash on hand.
Again, these comments were similar across a couple of different forums/sub-reddits so I'm assuming they are true. But I couldn't find proper sources so take them with a grain of salt.

I was able to find this:
Quote:
Asking the Court to Stop Enforcement of the Judgment: Filing a Notice of Appeal does not stop or stay the winning side from taking steps to collect or enforce the judgment from the lower court. To put the collection on hold, you may have to ask the court for a stay. You may have to pay an amount of money equal to the judgment amount, called an undertaking, to the court while the appeal is being decided. See How to Ask the Court for Something.
|
At https://www.nycourts.gov/courthelp/A...lsBasics.shtml
Edit: I was also able to find this, which I THINK means that the “undertaking” could take the form of liens against property, as opposed to a deposit of money, but maybe one of our resident lawyers could confirm or deny my understanding:
Quote:
Unless the court orders otherwise, an undertaking in an amount of more than one thousand dollars, which is not a deposit of legal tender of the United States or in face value of unregistered bonds of the United States or of the state, upon which natural persons are surety shall be secured by real property located in the state which shall be worth the amount specified in the undertaking exclusive of all encumbrances.

Reportedly she was already paid the original $5mil.
He’ll just fundraise this like he did that.

It sounds like he is getting about $45 million a quarter these days. How much is he spending on legal bills and judgements right now? If he's using campaign money to pay all these things, then I would guess that is going to cause more legal problems.
He has to be getting close to running out of money, and running out of money to borrow.

I don't think Mary Sue and Jim Bob can keep up with paying dozens of lawyers and 80 million dollar judgements.

It's a good thing there are over 40 million of them, then.

Apparently his super pac can spend money on things like personal legal bills. In 2023Q3, he raised 45 million, but only has 4 million left
https://apnews.com/article/trump-law...7758dfea56a509
They spent 20 million on legal fees in the first half of 2023, and I imagine he's spending at least double that rate right now as more cases are piling up. Throw in the 80 million dollar judgement and an upcoming expensive NY judgement. I think he's getting close to bleeding the well dry.

Jared can lend him some Saudi money to hold him over until he gets back in as Pres to repay the favour.

It would only be an impeachable issue if Trump had loaned the money to Jared, right?

This all stems from a guy that raped a woman, then defamed her afterwards regarding the incident. This guy is a former President of the United States... More people (80M) voted for him in 2020 than voted for the alternative choice. Lol America is ####ed!

First, I assume he doesn’t have it. He’s leveraged to the tits. And second, I just think he refuses to pay. If, god I hope not but if he becomes president again I’d imagine he not only doesn’t pay but looks for away to put her away. Has Jones paid a dime yet?
I hope, really really hope he’s forced to dismantle his empire. That’s what really matters to him. The status will be gone and he will be an afterthought. He’s a small, petty man and his perceived status is all he has.

His 'empire' will likely be dismantled by the damages in the business fraud case he has already lost. Damages will be decided by the judge he continues to harass and annoy. And just a judge, because his lawyers didnt check the box for jury on the form. Damages will be monetary (300 million plus) and a ban from operating a business in the state of NY.
