Pretty decent but that’s quite enough of the ultraviolent sscene set to upbeat music business. Cool the first time, interesting the second, rote every time after that. Leaned on that a little too often for my liking.

I really liked it. I wondered if Netflix would be able to keep the genre fans with the departure of the Marvel shows but if they can continue to put out stuff like Titans and Umbrella Academy then I think the answer is yes.

I noticed that as well but didn't want to get too bent about it because I still enjoyed the show. Those scenes reminded me of final scenes of the Kingsman movies (which I really enjoy).

This is a DC Online show that Netflix is distributing in Canada I believe. Similar to Doom Patrol.

The Umbrella Academy is a Dark Horse comic. The show was made specifically for Netflix. This show is in no way associated with DC.

He was referring to Titans.

I have watched about 5 episodes I would say.

Probably will try to finish on principle, but am having trouble giving a crap about any of the characters, plot, etc.

I should have clarified when I say "put out" I mean "present on their platform" (so not strictly Netflix Originals).

I think to do that they'd have to move from practical to CGI effects ant that would have had a major impact on the budget. That'd be my guess anyways.

I wasn't complaining about the choice for practical effects. The show also had a much more realistic and earth grounded vibe. Giving one one of the characters a giant space ape body would have thrown off the whole tone. I just don't think it would have been that bad having a chimp-like torso...once you got rid of the hair that is.

It's also interesting, in the show, they made him ashamed of his body. In the comic, he has a much worse disfigurement but doesn't care.

I had no idea until today that the creator of the original Umbrella Academy comic book was the lead singer of My Chemical Romance.
