I do think though that this still shows teams do have elements of secrecy. I mean, how many people are actually going to be involved in trade talks(discounting players with NTCs/NMCs who have to be consulted)? The 2 GMs, maybe 1/2 of their assistants, maybe a few other contributors like Pres of Hockey Ops, analytics etc. Very few I bet and I reckon they are mostly sworn to secrecy.
Take Treliving for example. He is ridiculously tight lipped about trades, doesn't give anything away, his most recent trade shows that. I bet he runs his management team involved in these dicussions in exactly the same. If his opposite number does the same, then how are the insiders supposed to get wind of these deals?
Given that so much is known about teams and their workings, I do still like it when trades happen out of the blue.

I like Rumours, it creates pre-discussion.
Of course those out of the blue trades are always interesting but I enjoy reading peoples meltdowns over what could possibly be. Equally, I enjoy reading people get excited about what could be.
It's one of the most exciting weeks of the year for many hockey fans. Hard to get excited when all you hear about is how Benning is a clown and how Yzerman may or may not have handcuffed his team.
Lastly, some of these guys ( Bob McKenzie for example) sole purpose for being such a highly respected authority on 'hockey insiders', is to provide some sort of insight as to what maybe going on behind the curtains. And these guys arent doing it.. Si what makes them such insiders? Breaking a trade that has already been sent to NHL head offices, again that's not being an insider, that's being a reporter on released information.
I'm simply confused as to what these guys actually bring to the table and are they doing anything extraordinary that makes them their title? I'm not seeing it the last few weeks.
Just frustrating as fan who is curious to know what's going on in the hockey world, other than listening to crap Canucks talk. (Which by the way is the only Knock on living on Vancouver Island..)
