The questions become:

Is Valimaki too far behind now that he would become a liability?
He won't be a liability. He is getting his conditioning up and he didn't forget how to play because of an ankle injury.

Is Stone actually going to come back this year, and if he does, will he be too far behind? I think we see him play in the regular season and he is a great depth guy for the playoffs. If any of the young guys need rest, he comes in against skilled teams ahead of Prout.

Are the Flames comfortable running with 3 Dmen 21 or younger in the starting lineup?
Yes! We have most of the season and we are 2nd in the NHL in the standings. Absolutely yes the team is comfortable with this situation.
Bold answers above!

Yeah, I'd say that getting Valimaki back and now Stone, with 20-something games left is another example of things going right for the Flames this season. Both guys get a decent number of games in before the playoffs and give the team a legitimate 3rd pairing in the case of injuries, along with a guy who hasn't looked that bad as their 9th guy.

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Valimaki - Stone
Prout

In the 2004 playoff run the Flames played 9 Dmen. Prout is many times better than Evans if he had to play as the 9th. I even think the 10th or 11th Dmen on the depth chart could probably put up more productive minutes than what Evans delivered in 04.

Fixed for accuracy.

Think he will cry like Dougie did when Fredrick got waived if the Flames don’t acquire his brother ?

Yeah, that would be more accurate. 2 games 6 minutes total ice time.

Depends, but often with atheletes and arm DVTs, thoracic outlet compression is curable. I don’t know if he had surgery though.

This is neither a productive nor insightful post. Nor is it funny.

2 games?

I forgot about one of them then. I remember one game where he had one shift that lasted a good 15 seconds or so less than your average shift length.

My apologies. Mr. Faut-finder. Should’ve added substance to my post.

Great to see Stoner back in action. The depth is looking very nice on the backend. Nice to have that cannon shot back as well!

He played 32 seconds in his first game in (Game 3 vs Detroit). 5 minutes in the next game before Warner was back.

Well, for my convenience, let's just forget about the 2nd game.

They did lose that second game. So there might be a correlation to Evans time played and winning.

Great news for Mike Stone.

I'd much rather Tre use dman-Stone to get scorer-Stone and then sign him to a reasonable contract (wishful thinking: because of contending team and family dynamics).

Unlike Freddie Hamilton, our Stone is a legit NHLer. He is a good player when healthy. It would be great to keep him and add a legit trigger man for the 2nd line and PP.

Treliving is talking about Stone right now, and the prognosis sounds good. He is off blood-thinners, and will be re-evaluated tomorrow at which point they will set a schedule for his return. Treliving and Stone have discussed a conditioning stint in Stockton when he is ready, and it sounds like this will be the direction they will go when the time comes.

Sounds like Stone will go to Stockton on a conditioning stint while the team goes on their next road trip and re-join them back in Calgary after that.

Perfect timing for everything all around.
