Is it just me or does him stepping away make him look guilty?

What about the time Semin threw hands at Marc Staal like he was an 18 year old girl?

Hard to say as it could be a smear campaign by Putin.

He would be lucky if a public smear campaign is all he gets for speaking against the Putin government.

Probably doesn't want to be a distraction to the team, you know that is all the media would be asking about on game days (and in between).

Yikes. While you hope the allegation isn’t true, the circumstances make it automatically suspect. I wonder why he’d take a leave though. It would seem like hockey would be a good distraction.

I think he's probably fearing for his life.
we've all seen what happens to critics of Putin.
The smear campaign is probably his warning to shut up or worse will happen.

To me it looks like this alleged assault is nothing more than a smear campaign put on by the government. Panarin publicly spoke against Putin regarding the treatment of Alexei Navalny.
The accusation is coming from Andrei Nazarov- a known loose cannon in Russian hockey. Panarin still has family and friends in Russia. This is a very interesting story.

Wow that's quite the statement from the NY Rangers. They're not sugarcoating it at all, and they're completely supporting Panarin.

I like that statement from the team. Not tap dancing around the issue and supporting their player

Crazy to see a story like this in the league but definitely not shocked by it. All the best Artemi!

Not to mention he probably has family back in Russia whom he’s worried about and since he has the means to do so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was more about planning to get them out of there. Good on the Rangers organization for being so publicly supportive of him in this situation, I’m sure that wasn’t an easy decision to make given the circumstances.

Lol if Putin wants to get a gold medal that means anything he’s gotta stop shooting his team in the foot.
