That is a painfully bad answer.

well Phillips is doing literally the best you can to produce at the ahl level

is he not making "nhl type" goals or assists in darryls mind? don't effing get it

sounds like a dismissive answer that someone who watches the ahl games with size-prejudice (not objectively) would make

nhl isn't what it was 20-40 years ago old man .. your team lost on a Phillips sized players gwg last night fyi

He also wasn't playing Phillips until the second last game after everyone kept asking why he wasn't putting him in the lineup when we had nothing to play for.

The players will be here longer than Sutter, so I would rather call up the players and waive his buddies, but Lucic contract prevents us from doing that. Lewis is the next player up I would think about waiving.

Yeah and a quarter of his existing roster isn't scoring. What does he see in Lucic at this point? It's maddening.

He insinuated his production is irrelevant due to it being in the AHL. Maybe if Phillips would score all those points in the NHL instead Darryl would consider putting him in the lineup

/eyeroll

Keeping up the tradition of every second season being a complete waste of time, catch yall next year

Can we hold you to this if the puck starts going in and Markstrom gets it together? Seems like a very bold statement a quarter of the way through the season.

It really makes no sense for a club that is struggling to score to not at least try one or more of the farmhands to see if they can provide a spark. I don’t even care if it is not Philips and they try Pelletier or Zary but they should bring up a player who can provide offense and be given a top 9 role.

This Flames team feels like the 07-12 team that was laden with veterans and impossible for youth to break through. The difference here is it looks like there are some actual good prospects we can try out.

Ya, at the end of the day Sutter is just straight up wrong on this one. His ego is clouding his judgement.

While I'm not defending Sutter, as I think the Flames have little to lose playing him, just because one small player scored a GWG last night isn't particularly relevant.

The skill level between those players is miles apart.

He insinuated that they are aware of the players they have in their system.

especially when it's 0 risk

30 day window in which he is waivers exempt and he will be definitely be a ufa in the summer if not played immediately

again why draft players if they play the best that one possibly can in the farm teams pro league and you essentially develop him for another team to snatch up for free???

the **** this team does for no good reason is maddening , to borrow scorpion's word

I’m definitely not turning on him, but I disagree with him on this issue. Love him as a coach and think he’s the best coach this team has had in years. He’s just wrong on this one, that’s all.

easy to say when only one of those players has been given a run in the NHL . who knows what Phillips can do with an extended run here

Also happy to have him as a coach but his act is getting to me a lot quicker than it has in the past. But to be fair, thats a byproduct of the team's performance. Everything irks me right now.

I still maintain Trelivings biggest mistake was extending Sutter AND the big contract extensions. Treliving had no insight into how this team would mesh coming into this season and its apparent this year under Sutter is going to be a tough ride as our skill guys to replace the outgoing ones aren't gelling right.

He should have picked one or the other. If extending the players was priority there was no need to extend Sutter because right now we could have let him go and found someone who can do something with this team as is. If he had picked just extending Sutter we could have flipped Huberdeau, Weegar etc and built up for next year. Now we're wasting a year of primes of an older core we've brought in. If Treliving fires Sutter now after a 3 year extension he likely gets canned himself. Be prepared to have a frustrating season as I dont see Treliving being able to do much as he's in self preservation mode. He over played his hand and now were in a catch-22.
