What is a "School Voucher", and why is it a major concern?

It’s the destruction of the public school system. They want vouchers equivalent to what the full cost of public schools are and then want to send their kids to a school that “meets” their standards and approvals with the voucher they go. So conservative and most likely religious so we can train up the next generation.

I’m still trying to figure out what’s wrong with the concept of a 15-minute city. Getting anywhere you need to be in fifteen minutes? Sounds absolutely amazing to me! Why wouldn’t you want that??

Where are their priorities? The college of Pedophiles and Sex Offenders is obviously the biggest problem!!!
(sadly yes, that is almost certainly what #10 is about)

Because the concept of it is being used to create false WEF conspiracies of the government creating control zones and monitoring your movements. Nobody rationally thinking about it should think that having the things you want and need within 15 minutes is a bad thing, but I used rationale and thinking as the qualification and that’s the problem.
It’s all a bunch of lies like most of the right wing nonsense designed to whip up the extreme electorate.

The thinking is that you will not receive a choice.

The word thinking is doing a lot of work there.
On a practical level there are just so many problems. Who will staff all of the guard towers and check points?

I would assume that maintenance on all the security cameras everywhere in these 15-minute cities would bring a sweet pension / retirement gig.

The co-opting of the 15 minute city must be funded by the oil companies or something lol. Wild that it has turned into a bad idea. I guess the rural bumpkins might take it ias they will get rid of towns or something.

What's weird is that developers, who are usually very RW, would benefit a lot from the concept.

Many towns are already a 15 minute 'city' by definition because they're not big enough that it takes longer than 15 minutes to get to the other side of town.

The issue is that it is supposed to be 15 minutes by walking, biking, or transit. That’s some evil left wing stuff

Speaking of 15 minute cities, whatever happened to the uproar about crickets in food? Those 2 puddle-water brained conspiracies were floating around at about the same time.

Oh that's still going. The vast WEF conspiracy that we'll all be eating bugs is right up there with 'you'll be happy but own nothing'.

I believe the trope is "you'll own nothing and be happy" and I get goosebumps-level excited every time I hear it.

Another example of political parties swapping sides and arguing the wrong thing. A 15 minute city would have to rely heavily on corporations and chains to fill the needs of each 15 minute zone. It would erode small business even further.
The right wing should be all for it, and the left wing against it.

This makes so little sense it’s hard to tell if you even know what a 15 minute city is supposed to be.
There are “15 minute city” zones everywhere, all over the world. Most old neighbourhoods already are. Why would it require corporations and chains? lol
