It amazes me how much the narrative has openly encouraged people treating other people poorly, that people couldn’t even see that they did or continue to do just that by pounding on even once vaccines proved to be much less effective than originally thought. She is not perfect, but everyone deserves to be treated with respect. I do believe if given a chance she could do a lot of good for Alberta. Unless you prefer Trudeau to keep handing it to us as Albertans like the past two leaders have done.

This brilliant satire sounds exactly like I'd imagine a supporter of Danielle Smith would sound: incoherent, delusional, and daft. Well done.

Nothing is certain except death, taxes, and Albertan leaders using a Trudeau as a boogeyman.

I'm not seeing any facts in your posts either. I'd like to see you backup your claims that the scientific "narrative" is "unravelling".

But have you seen the memes being posted by Theo Fleury and Jamie Sale? Top notch research.

The only good science is the half-assed unfinished science being pushed by the social channels I follow.

I guess we will see in the Provincial election.
I hope Notley joins you in this incredibly smart way to attack on Smith.
A warm reception by twitter in the comments section for Gondek on her response to Smith.

“Just give them a chance!” How many times have we heard this before? When people tell you who they are, it’s who they are.

Oh, it won't even take much. They'll just say there's no way they could vote NDP because lightbulbs or whatever, complain that there are no good choices, and then vote UCP anyway, because that's what they do.
I will be more surprised by an NDP win than a UCP one, no matter what a mess Danielle Smith creates.

A good summary of some of the stuff she touched on at her press conference. I will give her one thing, she seems to be willing to engage with the media. I'm not sure that's a good strategy since we all get to hear what she's thinking , but hey, she's running with it. I don't expect this to last very long, and soon she'll be demonizing the media for being so mean, ala Trump.
Quote:
By now, everyone understands that Ms. Smith is afraid of losing that election to the NDP and entrenching a narrative that Rachel Notley can motor her way back to the Premier’s Office.
But there is a new excuse, Ms. Smith’s third.
To wit: The UCP riding association hasn’t had time to do their paperwork and find a candidate.
|
As the author mentions, that's a You CP problem. A party not being ready has no bearing on democracy. Figure it out.
Quote:
Premier Smith was openly bitter about vaccine mandates for health care staff implemented during the COVID pandemic. And what do you do when you don’t like what the management is doing? She asked rhetorically. “You change the management! So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to change the management.”
You probably didn’t read this here first, but you’re going to read it again: This will be a catastrophe.
|
Yes, what could possibly go wrong, putting naturopaths and anti-vaxers in charge of our healthcare? Nothing, I'm sure.
Quote:
Former premier Jason Kenney still pouting about losing his job and not getting his choice for a replacement, Ms. Smith said, although not in those words. “I reached out to him and he has not accepted my invitation for a meeting.” She said she’s confident he’ll get over it. I’m not so sure.
|
Little known, Kenney did actually offer a response, though it was late, as typical. He said "I reject the premise of your premiership" and hung up.
And of course, for those still confused about what type of person we are dealing with here...
Quote:
Alberta’s Great Unvaxxed, she said, “have been the most discriminated-against group that I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. That’s a pretty extreme level of discrimination.”
|
That's, just...ugh. Get me out of this timeline.

Wow. I haven't followed Alberta politics too closely, but she apparently went to my high school a year ahead of me, and my classes FB group is all in a kerfuffle about her.
I always thought Alberta's politics were akin to a purplish American state like I live in, but pretty shocked to see an Alberta premier blow right on by Desantis on the right wing looney spectrum.

Respect is earned, not given, and of her planned actions, a lot of very smart people all across the political spectrum are saying it’s going to be bad for Alberta. I look forward to you scratching your head wondering why everything is so ####ed in the middle of winter.
