This is very anecdotal, but I know a lot of people from blue states that have been moving to Texas, mostly for work, but also because of cost of living. Many of those have been moving from California.
Texas is moving blue at some point because if you have a strong economy, you attract the highly educated and professional classes. They tend to vote overwhelmingly blue.

I read somewhere (can't remember where, could be fake news) that a lot of those 1 million voters either a) died or b) moved out of state.
I'm sure they have, but it's also an easy opportunity for the GOP to remove a lot of legitimate voters who happens to have similar names, who just so happen to live in primarily democratic districts
The National Fraternal Order of Police, the world’s largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with over 373,000 members, had endorsed Trump. Many cops are racist and want to enforce their own brand of the law with impunity.
Texas GOP also wants to enact an electoral college style system where you have to win counties. So some place out west with 300 residents would have the same power as Houston or Austin
All this talk about media bias and trimming quotes when his actual statement was that he hates that school shootings are a fact of life.
That doesn't make it better.
The USA is the only country on earth where school shootings are a fact of life. People should be doing everything they can to change that, not shrugging it off as something they hate, but is inevitable.

Yeah you're kind of missing the point though. They don't have to be a fact of life. They can be dealt with, if only certain political entities in the US would stop throwing up their hands saying that something is unfixable when they in fact have the power to fix it.

Definitely true. Sickness is a fact of life. Why have doctors and hospitals? Cars are a fact of life. Why have licenses and safety laws? DIrt and dust is a fact of life. Why clean things?

And again, that wasn't my point. The previous page of this thread was ironically discussing honesty and integrity in news media reporting. Then Vance says what he says. I never said it was a correct statement, I don't know how anyone is reading it that way. I'm saying there's a difference between "I hate that (x) is a fact of life" vs "(x) is a fact of life." Trimming the quote that way makes the statement sound like he's claiming it is what it is, nothing we can do about it, deal with it. Its dishonest reporting, and as we saw with the edited Kamala clips its manipulative. Want to put him on the spot for not doing anything about it, do that. Don't just change the quote.

As a sitting US senator who can influence or change laws to prevent such atrocities, the trimmed quote is more accurate. If Captain Eyeliner really hates that these things can happen, then use the power of your position to change these things. Fact of the matter is he doesn’t give a #### and only says these these things to deflect responsibility.
Vance believes as a fact that it's "a fact of life." Whether he hates it or not doe not change that he believes it's unchangeable, and the reporting accurately reflects that.
"I hate that women are inferior to men, but..." would not be inaccurately reported if you took off the "I hate that...."
Texas and Florida are both in play. Not saying the Blue will take them, but they could.
Going back to even Obama's 2nd term, I remember hearing a lot of talk of these 2 states going purple (Florida went blue that election) and that Texas was likely going to go blue if things continued the way they were progressing in 2016. I think most would agree the GOP are much better at messaging, convincing people on narratives they put out there and just strategy (no matter how evil) in general, and I think we saw that in these states that despite the momentum the Democrats had and the growing minority and Hispanic population, the campaign by the Republicans to have these people believe in the socialist/communist label they've put on the Democrats has steered many of these voters to the GOP. It feels like both states have swung back over to the red.
This isn't a good thing at all as Dick Cheney is a POS.
I dunno, "even the giant warmongering POS Cheney can't find a redeeming reason to support Trump, so WTF is your excuse?" seems like it might have a little value.

Barely... but fair enough!
